Instructions
Instruct guests to take photos of their home movie collection the day before your party. Decide early on whether they can include VHS movies in addition to their DVD items. An immediate start on the day before helps to maintain a fair movie game for everyone. It reduces the likelihood of guests purchasing new items to add with their movie collection. There are alternatives to following through on part one if every guest does not have a camera.
Skip the photo requirement and instruct these guests to write or type their movie list collection and bring it when they arrive to your party. Research the top 100 movies of all time and keep a list on hand. Many entertainment publications and websites have listed variations of "Top 100 movies" that can be used as a resource. Select the best list that matches your movie party theme to heighten the enjoyment among guests. If you do not have a party theme, survey the guests on their top movies of all time while planning the event. Create a master list of 100 movies based on your guest's responses.
How to Play
Compare your guest's movie collections to the list of 100 movies of all time. Call out each movie title on your master list. Instruct guests to place a check mark next to each movie that they own from the master list. The guest who has the most of these "top 100" movies in his or her collection wins this movie party game. Popcorn, movie tickets, posters and memorabilia are some great prizes for this type of movie party game.
Rules
Pirated movies and films burned on DVD-R discs or variations of these items are not valid entries that can be included in any movie collection total. Before explaining what this party game is all about, instruct guests to review their photos or lists and cross off any DVDs or VHS tapes that are borrowed and do not belong to them. Adult movies are not valid either unless your party theme is related to this genre. Keep an extra prize on hand in case there is a tie among the winning guests. There are tons of movie party games that can be used as a tie breaker if your budget only allows for one prize.
