The North Carolina Transportation Museum
http://www.nctrans.org/events/trick_or_train.php located in Raleigh North Carolina will have a Trick or Train ride on from Oct 26-28 from 6 to 9 pm. Suggested age is 8 and up. Trains will leave every 45 minutes. The train will travel to the Haunted Roundhouse and see the ghosts of The Southern Railway. Fee is $8 per person, free to members and kids under 3. They will have activities for young kids and this is a North Carolina Historical Site.
The North Carolina Zoo
http://www.nczoo.org/index.cfm They are located in Asheboro North Carolina, and have directions to the zoo on their site. Oct 13,14,20,21,26,27,28 they will have a haunted tram ride through the zoo. 7 pm to 10 pm cost is $10 for all riders. Oct 28-29 they have "Boo at the Zoo" A costume contest, games, mural painting and musical entertainment, clowns and magicians, will give you a complete evening. This is a daytime event.

The North Carolina Renaissance Faire

A variety of games and woodcarving, as well as great food and Celtic Bands will be at this Irish Halloween event. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for kids 5-12 and free for 4 and under.
The Town of Huntersville
http://www.huntersville.org/parksrec_1.asp will present Spooktacular on Sat Oct 28 from 6 to 9 pm, at North Mecklenburg Park. They will have face painting, a moon bounce, carnival games as well as other fun activites. Costume Contest and Stage Events are free, minimal charge for some other activities.
NC Museum of Natural Sciences
http://www.naturalsciences.org/visinfo/index.html in Raleigh North Carolina. Will present Natural History Halloween on Sat Oct 28 from 11 am to 5 pm. Ages 2 to 12. Kids will meet snakes and other interesting animals, as well as play fun games. There is a costume contest if you enter before 3pm, where kids can compete for prizes.
KOA Campground Cherokee North Carolina

The Hacker House
http://Hackerhouse.com in Pilot Mountain North Carolina. Check the website for the dates. Called the Dead and Breakfast, this is one scary place! There is a tour of the house and a graveyard. They ask that children under 8 not be there, and admission is $13 but they have other offers on their site, including a group discount.

carowinds/attractions/index.cfm This is the best one I have been to myself. They will scare the heck out of you! They have 7 huge attractions and require a separate admission from the park admission. They have too much to mention, but just some it of includes a Haunted Manor, a Slaughter House and a Funhouse Express.
The Great Smokey Mountains Railroad
http://www.gsmr.com/events/calendar.php in Dillsboro North Carolina. They have a Mystery Theatre Dinner Train as well as The Great Pumpkin Patch Express. You can meet Lucy and Charlie Brown, go on hayrides, enjoy a hay bale maze, music, food and other entertainment, as well as shop in a Peanuts TM gift shop. And there is a petting zoo as well. Check their website for times and prices.
