Fun Summer Water Games for Kids

Summertime is a great time for water fun and activities! Kids love the water! Water games are a great addition to a birthday party, festival, Vacation Bible School, or any other event you have planned. This article will go over several fun filled water games that kids can play and the games won't hardly cost you a dime!

One game we like to play out our Wednesday night Church kids club is water dodge ball. You take several buckets and fill them with water. You place them throughout the yard on both sides. You will have two teams. Each team gets several foam balls. The object of the game is to dip the ball in the water and get very wet and then throw them at the other team. If you are hit with the ball you are out. If you dodge the ball your still in. It is a different take on the regular dodge ball. Kids love it and have fun with it!

Water balloon toss is a game that has been around for a long time, but it is still a favorite of the kids. Engage the kids to help you fill the balloons with water. To play, make two even rows of kids and have each kid from each row toss a balloon to the one in front of them. After each toss they both step back one step. The object is to be the last 2 standing and to see how far apart you can be while still throwing the balloon without busting it. It is really fun! The kids love it when the balloons pop!

Water relays are really fun! The water cup relay is a fun game! The kids always get a kick out of this! You divide the kids into 2 groups and form a line. You will need 2 buckets, 2 cups, 2 sponges or foam balls will work. What you have to do is the second person in line put the cup on their head. And the first person has to run back and forth filling the sponge with the water and squeezing the water into the cup. Once the cup is full the first gets get to dump the water on the second person's head and then the second person has to fill the sponge up with water and bring it back and squeeze the water out into the cup on the third persons head. The first group to finish doing this is the winner. Everyone loves this game because you are guaranteed to get wet!

For the smaller children (3-5) you can play a similar game. Have the kids form two lines. The object of this game is to have the children fill up one bucket with the water from another bucket. They can do this either using small cups or sponges. Once the bucket is full they get to empty it and then the second person in line takes a turn. The first group finished is the winner. All of these games can be changed up and played however you wish.

This next game is a lot of fun and is a take on the limbo game. This is called water limbo. All you need for this game is a water hose! Take the hose and form a steady stream in a straight line. You play this just like regular limbo. All the kids have to go under the water. With each turn the you bring the water lower and lower. The one who can make it under the lowest without getting wet is the winner.
