Fun Things to Do in Florida

Ray Prince
Without a doubt, Florida is synonymous with miles of sandy beaches, a vivid night life, and more. Florida is loaded to the brim with plenty of places to go. From its classic attractions like its world renowned theme parks to water parks all the way down to nature reserves and night club hotspots - there is a place for everyone.

The first word that comes to mind when thinking of Florida is its beaches. With more than 1000 miles worth of beaches, it is the ideal spot for all travel nurses to go to after a long day of work. If boardwalks are your idea of fun, visit Hollywood Beach. Hollywood Beach is a near replica of Atlantic City's own and is 2.5 miles long lined with different shops, hotels, arcades, and even amphitheaters. If driving along the beach is your idea of a good time, spend a day at Daytona Beach. For a $5 daily fee, you can drive your RV through the beach for extra fun!

The nightlife scene in Florida is unquestionably full of spirit and drive - a boon for active travel nurses. Heading into the wee hours, waterfront bars and Gulf coast sunsets are the norm around here. Beach clubs are plentiful in North Florida, which is also home to Seville Quarter, a strip of land similar to New Orleans's Bourbon Street providing a Mardi Gras atmosphere. Or perhaps head downward to Central Florida, home of the Walt Disney World Resorts. Even further down Florida state is South Beach, a popular hotspot with celebrities full of outdoor cafes, hotel bars, and dance clubs.

Pound for pound, the most dynamic attraction Florida has to offer would probably be Walt Disney World in Orlando. Consisting of four major theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and MGM Studios - it spans over 47 total miles of action-packed fun. Here, travel nurses can take the kids out for a Space Mountain ride, revel in the Main Street Parade, and see international themed shows the Epcot has to offer. Enjoy the whitewater rides and safari attractions in the zoo-like Animal Kingdom atmosphere as well.

For the golf enthusiasts, there is no better place to go than Palm Beach. A conglomeration of high class shops and restaurants, Palm Beach is also home to more than 150 golf courses. The Professional Golfer's Association rests here, and many of the luxurious golf courses are available to the public. Right along in Southwest Florida is Fort Lauderdale as well. Similar to the Venice network, it is divided into islands hooked up by canals. Stroll along the river walk and loiter around its selection of stores. Miami Beach is right close by as well, so you can combine both these power beaches into one long trip.

Florida has something for every travel nurse. It is no wonder many travel nurses seek Florida as their first work assignment destination!
