Fun Things to Do While Snowed In

Jacob Willard
With the major snow storm sweeping the nation millions of people may find themselves snowed in and without power. TVs, computers, and all other electronic devices will be useless and staring at the walls is only fun for so long. With that in mind here is a list of 5 fun things that you could do in order to pass the time until the power returns and the snow goes away.

Play Hide and Seek

Remember this game as a child? Of course you do. In my opinion there was never a game invented more fun than this. As I grew older and became a boring adult I stopped playing, that is until I had children. Now I realize that this game is just as much fun at 30 as it was at 10. A powerless house is also the perfect place to play it in. Play with the kids or play as just adults.

Make snow ice cream

There is no shortage of snow around. You might as well use it. The recipe is really easy. Just get a large bowl of snow (about a gallon), 14oz of sweetened condensed milk and 1tsp of vanilla extract. Mix it all together and enjoy a yummy treat. If you happen to run out simply go outside and make some more.

Get outside

In this day and age playing outside has become a thing of the past. Kids and adults spend too much time in front of the TV. Bundle up and get out. Build a snow man or igloo or snow fort or have a snow ball fight. The possibilities are endless. Just be smart about how well you bundle up and how long you stay out in the frigid weather.

Tell stories

You may not have a camp fire but that is no reason to not tell camping stories. Make them up as you go are retell classic tales.

Go camping in the living room

Don't be afraid to bring out the camping gear. Bring out the tents, sleeping bags and all. Sit it up in the living room and have a blast.

Being stuck in from the snow doesn't have to be a bad thing. Even if you have no power you can still have a great time. In fact, if you do it correctly you may find yourself looking forward to the next time that you get snowed in.
