Before any of that happens, you'll have to announce your pregnancy to your friends and family. This can be just as exciting for your loved ones to find out as it was for you, and there are many ways to have fun with it.
Dinner.
Invite your family over for a themed dinner. The theme? Babies, of course! (But don't tell them that!)
First, you'll have to decorate your dinner table. As a centerpiece, get a beautiful bouquet of baby's breath and place them in a bottle instead of a vase. Replace your usual table cloth with one of pastel colors. If you really want to go all out, set the table with plastic baby forks and spoons. Instead of napkins, set out cloth diapers or even diaper wipes to use.
Serve your guests baby back ribs, baby corn, miniature pigs in a blanket, and any other food that is small or has the word "baby" in it's name. For dessert, serve miniature cakes or cookies.
See if your family can guess at the theme and figure out what you're trying to tell them themselves, or drop hints for them.
Gifts
Get an ultrasound picture of your baby printed out, and put it in a cute frame. Wrap this up and watch the look on the receivers face as he or she figures out what it is, and what it means. You can even find frames from some baby specialty stores that say things such as "Grandma Loves Me".
If this will be the first grandchild, you can't go wrong with a shirt that says "Number One Grandma" or "Number One Grandpa."
If not, many malls have stores that make customized shirts that can say whatever you wish. (Maybe, "Grandma To Be" or even "Soon To Be Aunt").
Other Children
If you already have children, you can buy the youngest one a "Big brother" or "Big sister" shirt and dress him or her in it when you go to visit your loved ones. They may not notice it right away, but eventually someone will ask about that shirt being on your youngest child.
You could also use word of mouth through your child to let everyone know. Children say the silliest things, and after you explain to your child that you will be having a baby, and answer all the questions they have about pregnancy, let them tell your loved ones what's happening in their own special way . (What's funnier than a child announcing that Mommy has a baby in her belly because she ate it?)
However you decide to announce your pregnancy, it is sure to be a wonderful and exciting time in your life. Congratulations to you and yours!
