Watermelon is delicious to eat on a hot summer's day. Watermelon are typically served in slices but can be served other ways as well. Here are some more creative and delicious ways you can serve watermelon this summer.

The first way to serve watermelon in the summer was one of my favorites as a child. My mom would place cubes of watermelon in a bowl along ice cubes and then sprinkled on some sugar. The sugar adds to the natural sweetness of the watermelon and the ice cubes helps to keep the watermelon cool for eating.

Baby seedless watermelons are great because you can cube the watermelon and serve inside of the rind. Simply cut the seedless watermelon in half and then carve out the center. Cube the watermelon and place back inside of the rind. To mix things up you can do the same thing with cantaloupe and offer half cantaloupe and half watermelon in each rind.

You can change it up by using different shapes of cookie cutters to cut the watermelon with as a fun and creative way to present watermelon to your guests. Flowers, hearts, stars, and other such cookie cutters would be ideal for making these watermelon shapes with. You could also freeze these watermelon shapes before your picnic to help keep them cold until after the main meal is finished.

If you enjoy eating tortilla chips with dip you might want to try making a watermelon salsa. There are many recipes found on the internet for making your own watermelon salsa. Basic ingredients include watermelon, onion, and salt. Other ingredients you could try adding are vinegar, sugar, cucumbers, lime juice, and spicy peppers. Watermelon salsa and chips can be a great appetizer for your summer barbeque or picnic.

Planning on serving ice cream or sherbet? Why not serve it on top of a slice of watermelon without the rind? Skip the brownie and ditch the banana, serving watermelon at the base of your ice cream or sherbet scoop is just as delicious. Delicious!

Looking for a healthy way to serve your watermelon? Why not serve it along with some yogurt for dipping? Cut the watermelon into shapes using cookie cutters and serve alongside some yogurt for dipping. You can take it one step further and also add a bowl of granola to dip it in after dipping it in the yogurt. Tasty!

Soup isn't just for winter. You can serve up a tasty bowl of chilled watermelon soup as a delicious appetizer or dessert this summer. To make a chilled watermelon soup you simply need cubes of watermelon and a blender. Other ingredients are optional and can help make your soup even tastier. Some great examples for mix-ins include diced cantaloupe, lemon juice, sugar, and mint.

With these seven tasty ways to serve watermelon you are likely to never get tired of eating watermelon this summer! These delicious recipes are all easy to make and are great when served at your summer barbeque or picnic.

Wonderful article. Watermelon Salsa ? It sounds fantastic. I'm a culinary grad and still occasionally cook in restaurants and I don't recall hearing about Watermelon Salsa before. The soup and ice cream ideas sound great. Recently, Stop & Shop supermarkets had Watermelon Cake (with watermelon icing) on sale in their bakery. I saw it in a previous week's circular and missed out on it.

Good ideas! We always end up eating watermelon plain and that gets kind of old, so these are helpful ideas!
