Do you tend to snatch a few paint color samples whenever you hit the hardware store? Paint color samples aren't just for trying to find the perfect hue for your bedroom walls. Those colorful little pieces have great craft potential. If you've got a bin filled with paint color samples, consider these fun ways to reuse them.

Make a Memory Card Game

Small kids love paint color samples, especially the little square ones. If you've got small kids, one fun way to reuse the square paint color samples is by making your own memory game. If you happen to have matching colors, then you've pretty much got a memory game ready to go. However, if you have dozens of varied colors, then you'll need to stencil letters, numbers, flowers, animals or insects on your samples.

Make an Alphabet Flash Card Ring

Another fun way to reuse your paint sample colors if you have small kids is to make an alphabet flash card ring. Stencil a letter on each one of your square samples. Then stencil a number or shape one the other side. Punch a hole through each top corner and then string through a snap hook to create an easy flash card system that you can take on the plan or in the car.

Make Confetti

Using a hole puncher, make a bowl full of confetti from your paint sample chips. You can even buy a star or heart shaped puncher from Michaels to give you a variety of styles of confetti. Use your confetti to decorate picture frames or make fun cascarones. Used in Mexican celebrations, cascarones are hollowed out egg shells that are decorated and filled with confetti.

Make Gift Tags

Reuse either type of paint color sample to make gift tags for any occasion. The small squares can be used as is. For the large rectangles, cut them into circles or squares. You can punch a hole through the top and string ribbon through or tape them to the gift.

Make Nametags

Make Greeting Cards

Reuse your samples by using them to make homemade greeting cards. The stunning color samples can be combined to create amazing images. One way is by folding cream or pastel cardstock or buying blank cards. Then cut your paint samples into random shapes, such as circles or slivers, and glue them along the outside of your cards.

Frame Them

A fun and easy way to reuse those square samples is to simply frame them. Glue four samples onto a cream or white piece of cardstock and then frame.
