Pass the Word
Kids and adults love playing fun word games at parties, and pass the word is one of the most entertaining games of all. It can be played at large parties or small get-togethers with friends and relatives, and it is sure to be a big success. It is often played by e-mail, but it can also be played at parties, showers, and all types of celebrations.
To play this game you will need one pad of paper and a pencil with an eraser. Begin by printing one four-letter word. Pass the pad of paper and pencil to the next player. This player should print a new word by changing a single letter while keeping the others in order. The new word must be in the dictionary. The next person checks the prior entry for accuracy, creates a new word, and passes the paper to the next person. Not many word games can be played at parties without requiring concentration, and this is one of the best because guests can continue to visit while playing.
Sentence Scramble
Another one of the best games for parties involves an opening sentence, paper, writing instruments, and lots of imagination. Choose four or five-word sentences, and select the subject for each game depending on the parties. For example, when looking for fun games for Christmas parties, the sentence could be, Wishing you a Merry Christmas. Come up with unique sentences and games that go with the themes of the parties.
Begin by passing out paper and pens or pencils to the guests, and have them come up with as many new words as possible using only the letters in the predetermined sentence. Whoever writes down the greatest number of actual words wins these fun and exciting games. Keep in mind that words must not be proper nouns, they must be spelled correctly only using the letters in the sentence, and they have to be found in the dictionary.
Sentence Add-On
Creating sentences one remark at a time can be a blast at parties. Begin by coming up with a word to start the first sentence. Have the next person add to the sentence with another. Keep going while adding one word at a time until the sentence is complete. Come up with fun alternative rules to these games for parties such as including only main words that begin with the same letter. Brenda and Brent bought a big bad boa on a boat in Bermuda is one example of a fun and quirky sentence. Guests at parties will have fun coming up with their own creative sentences. This can be one of the funniest games for parties since the sentences can become very silly.
