About the Santaquin Library
Santaquin, Utah has a population of approximately 8,000, but the library is small for a town of that size. Although it has been housed in a number of places, including the basement of one of the city's buildings, in 2002 the library relocated to a beautiful, renovated LDS church that was originally built in 1901. The building's unique architecture includes arched windows, a stained glass window in the upper story and a stairway that winds up to the balcony from the lower floor. Although the library has limited physical space, the interior is modern and airy, and the staff are helpful.
Library cards are free to residents of Santaquin, while non-residents may currently (as of 2010) purchase the card for a yearly fee of $20.00. Wireless internet access is available to patrons, as well as computers that may be used for half an hour at a time. In addition, visitors may print from the library's computers at a cost of ten cents a page.
There's a nice slide show available for viewing on line at the library's website and it's well worth seeing. The photos are top quality and very interesting, giving a quick glimpse into the interior and exterior of the building.
About the Fundraiser
Unfortunately, limited funds are a problem for the Santaquin library, and for that reason there will be a fundraiser taking place on March 9, 2010 from 3:00p-7:00p. Local authors Rachelle J. Christensen, C.L. (Cindy) Beck, and D.N. (Nichole) Giles will be signing books there in an attempt to help raise funds. The library will receive a portion of the proceeds from the book sales, and the authors hope to raise a significant amount of money to help the library.
Rachelle J. Christensen will be signing her romantic suspense novel, Wrong Number.
C.L. (Cindy) Beck and co-author, D.N. (Nichole) Giles will be signing their humor book, Mormon Mishaps and Mischief.
Nichole Giles will also be signing her latest release, a historical novel titled, The Sharp Edge of a Knife.
For more information email contact(at)santaquinlibrary(dot)org or phone 801.754.3030
And if you get the opportunity, stop by on March 9 and help this little library raise funds for books, equipment, and to assist in the efforts to spread literacy.

That's a good idea for a fundraiser! Our library should try somethign like this.
Thanks, Langley. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that their little library will get a bundle from it. And if not a bundle ... well, every little bit helps, right? :)
Excellent fund raising idea. I hope they draw a big crowd too.
