Funeral Insurance

The Smart Way to Save Money is to Preplan

Most of us are accustomed to insurance and have a little knowledge about the importance of coverage for our homes and vehicles, but some lack knowledge about an insurance that is referred to as preneed insurance. This type of insurance covers funeral expenses once you're gone. Here are some important reasons to consider a preneed arrangement.

1. To save money.

A preneed service can actually protect you from the rising cost of a funeral. It's simple. You prearrange your funeral, pick out a casket, choose a cemetery and type of vault you want, the place where you want the service to be, i.e. church, funeral home or maybe a graveside. You write your own obituary, pick who you want to sing or play at your funeral along with the song or songs you want. You make the decisions about everything that will take place the day of the funeral, and if you want a visitation you can plan that also. When you've finished planning your funeral, the cost will be figured, and you can choose to pay the total amount or make payments. If, after everything is figured, you want to fine tune your choices to lower the cost or add to it you can. This type of planning guarantees that the funeral cost is sealed. There are certain things which you can change as time goes by without a fee, such as the obituary information or singers, but you will need to go over this when you do your prearrangement.

2. To save your family from making choices for you.

Death is a blow to family and friends. The normal time frame for a service is three days after the death. In those few days your family will have to set aside a time to meet with the funeral director and tell them who you were, your accomplishments, your life story, all the particulars of who you're survived by and who proceeded you in death so the funeral director can do the obituary. Plus they will pick out a casket, take care of the cemetery, decide on a vault, flowers, singers, pall bearers, preacher, place of service, songs, etc. This will be the worst days of their life because they have just lost someone they dearly loved and in the midst of their grief they must deal with the final arrangements.

3. Save your family excess cost.

Sometimes when a family is dealing with grief they are more apt to overspend because they want only the best for their loved one at whatever price. As we all know the cost of everything seems to increase as the years pass.

The general facts are as follows: A preneed arrangement goes with you wherever you go. Let's say that you're in your forties with a blooming career in front of you that takes you from state to state. You don't know where you will be when you die. A preneed insurance arrangement is recognized anywhere in the United States. You can discuss this with the funeral director at the time the preneed is arranged. So even if you live in a different state than where you set up your preneed you are still assured that the funeral will be paid for, and it won't be an event that your family will need to take care of.

Prearranging means you have control of your last wishes and decisions. You decide if you want a funeral or memorial service, what you want your obituary to say and the final cost of your services.

This is one decision that helps those you love when you're no longer there to help.
