Funk(tional) Disturbance

dark
but i am bliss-fired
and phosphorescent
and i can see ahead of me-
not the light at the end of the tunnel
but something else
lighting the way
so i no longer
question the end.

i have been force-fed faith;
don't think that i've found it
not the way you mean, anyway
i still only believe
in things i can see
and feel
and breathe
molecules of hope and wanting
atoms careening madly
against the walls
of everywhere
splitting
dangerous and beautiful.

i've been near here before
tripping over manic, looking into darkness
but never like this
surrounded
wrapped in comfort
looking up
at life
and reaching out for it.
