Funniest Moms on TV Shows

Television Moms that make us laugh are some of the most fun characters on TV to watch. Motherhood can be funny and watching a character portraying a Mom that does and says funny things can make us realize how sometimes we should not take life so seriously.

Every viewer has their favorite fictional Mom and some of my favorite Moms are the ones that are funny. The Spring TV shows offer a variety of funny Moms, I have already picked my personal favorites.

Cheryl (Courtney Thorne-Smith)

According to Jim

ABC-Tuesday/8 pm Central Time

Cheryl is hilarious with her comments, looks and reactions that she gives her husband Jim (Jim Belushi). Jim is constantly challenging Cheryl in a playful way and she puts up with his silly antics. I really enjoy the character Cheryl as she is able to balance being a mother, wife and having extended family members in the mix yet she still keeps her humor and charm.

Joy (Jaime Pressly)

My Name is Earl

NBC-Thursday/7 pm Central Time

Joy is not the most sophisticated Mom around nor has she made the best choices in life but the facial expressions she makes, the hairstyles and the clothes she wears just makes me laugh. I really enjoy her character, not so much as a Mom but just the things she does and says on the show I find quite funny.

Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria Parker)

Desperate Housewives

ABC-Sunday/8 pm Central Time

Gabrielle has had a whirl wind of a life and in each season the character of Gabrielle continues to surprise me. I think Gabrielle's quick wise crack comments are hilarious. The way she gets herself in predicaments but seems to always manage to get through is funny in itself. Her character is so far fetched and extreme that I find it enjoyable to watch as my life does not near have the adventures as hers, luckily for me!

Kath Day (Molly Shannon)

Kath & Kim

NBC-Thursday 7:30 pm Central Time

Kath is always saying things incorrectly and not realizing it, her antics as a single Mom make me laugh. The show has not had good reviews and has not had a long run with it being scheduled to end in March. However, I love Molly Shannon as an actress and find most everything she does to be hilarious!

Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher)

Desperate Housewives

ABC-Sunday/8 pm Central Time

Susan's air head type personality cracks me up, her clumsiness is so funny because I can completely relate to her as I am just as clumsy, if not more so. I also love the way Susan relates to her daughter and although many times Susan's daughter seems like she is a bit more leveled headed, I love the interactions and relationship between the two.

The television Moms are each funny in their own way and we as viewers make our own connections with the characters. No matter the reason why the television Moms are funny, it is hard not to enjoy them because who does not love a Mom but especially a funny one!
