Funny Computer Pranks to Pull on Your Friends

These Funny Computer Pranks Take Less Than a Minute

Michael Toth
Computer pranks are among the most entertaining things to do with your friends. You can download computer pranks from a website, but these take more time and you simply don't get the same satisfaction as if you had executed them yourself. Computer pranks can be funny, scary, or simply annoying, but this article will focus on several funny computer pranks that you can easily use on your friends.

Computer Pranks: Harmless Mouse Pranks

Mouse pranks are among the simplest and funniest computer pranks to use against your friends. These computer pranks manipulate both the mouse itself and the mouse properties settings.

The simplest of these computer pranks involves a mouse with a scroll wheel. These aren't very common today, but if your friend does still have one this can be a hilarious joke. First, you'll want to remove the scroll wheel from the mouse. Next, use paper to cover one of the rollers inside the mouse and put the scroll wheel back in. Your friend will spend five minutes checking his mouse connection and settings before even thinking to check the wheel, and you'll be sitting and laughing at one of the best computer pranks.

These next computer pranks deal with changing the mouse properties. These computer pranks take less than thirty seconds to execute. First, go to Start>Control Panel>Mouse. This brings up the mouse properties window. Execute the first of these computer pranks by checking "switch primary and secondary buttons". This makes his right click his left click and his left click his right click. He'll likely figure this one out relatively quickly, but it is still one of the funniest computer pranks. The second of these computer pranks is executed by navigating to the pointer options tab. Set the pointer speed as slow as possible and click okay. It will now take about ten seconds to move the mouse across the screen, and your friend likely won't be able to figure this one out for a while. This is absolutely hysterical and definitely one of the best computer pranks.

Computer Pranks: Hiding Desktop Icons

This is perhaps one of the most frustrating and funny computer pranks of all. Close any open windows and hit the print screen button (PrtScr) on the upper right of the keyboard. Next, open Paint and hit paste. You now have an exact copy of what your friend's desktop looks like. Save this file somewhere and set it as the desktop background. Next, right click the desktop and hide the icons from the view menu. You will still be able to see the icons because of the printed screen, but they are actually hidden and won't work. Next, hide the bottom taskbar by pulling it to the bottom. If your friend has Vista you can also hide the sidebar from the system tray. Now just sit back and watch your friend go crazy; you'll soon realize why this is one of the best computer pranks.

I hope this article has taught you some new computer pranks to pull on your friends. Consider combining several of these computer pranks for a hilarious experience. Good luck with your computer pranks!

  • All of these computer pranks take less than a minute to execute
  • Computer pranks involving the mouse are very frustrating and can be difficult to figure out
  • Desktop background computer pranks are both hilarious and frustrating
Some computer pranks can actually damage a computer. None of the ones listed will, but you should always stop and think before executing a prank. If it seems like it would damage the computer, it probably will.

THe best one to do is to create a folder and make the icon look like the internet. Hide the real internet somewhere else where they won't find it. It's hilarious.
