Funny Obstacles I Have Encountered in and Out of My Salon; A Few Beauty Secrets to Enhance Your Looks
One day at the salon I use to own, me and my partner decided to have some down time and color our own hair. First I colored my partners hair a beautiful shade of reddish-brown, and then I went with bleaching my dark hair out. I wanted the bleach to get to a light red shade. So while my hair was processing I decided to take a walk in customer, not thinking how long the bleach has been sitting on my head.
I got done with my haircut and washed my color out. Whoah! It was flaming red with hues of orange all over. Being so into my hair, I couldn't allow any customers to see me like this, so I ran into the back and closed my eyes and grabbed a color. The color I chose was a mahogany reddish brown. Mixed it into a bottle and decided I needed more creativity. Closed my eyes again, and chose a second color which was chocolate brown. Placed it on my head and allowed it to process.
After the color was done I washed it out, and it was the most beautiful color I have ever created. The salon started to get real busy, and a color walked in. The lady had jet black hair with tons of gray. I asked her what color she wanted. She replied "I love your color, can you do mine like that?"
I just laughed and said "Yes, I can do this color on you, but I need to mess up your hair first." If I just apply the colors I mixed directly onto your hair now, it won't look like this." Customer agreed, so we bleached her hair, made her look like an orange pumpkin and applied the color mix. But before I added it to her hair, she said "Can you do me a favor, and add a third color?" I said yeah why not? Better yet, I will let you choose. The customer closed her eyes and chose a Cherry red. I mixed it into the bottle and placed it on her head. After 30 minutes we rinsed the hair out, and the color was so amazing that another client in the salon wanted the same thing.
That's when I became the color expert, and enjoyed mixing different shade. The lesson learned is never worry about the color always coming out so perfect, because sometimes when you mess up the results are even better. Mixing different colors does take practice, but it certainly does add that extra pizazz to the hair instead of being so flat.
Another funny story I have is about a customer cutting my hair. I was single at the time, and always use to be real friendly with my customers. Well, one day a real cute guy came in and asked for a haircut. No big deal, I sat him down and started to cut his hair trying not to gawk at him.
He started talking about how lovely my hair is. At that time my hair was real curly down to my waist. I said thank you for the compliments and just continued cutting. He then asked me "Can I touch your hair?" So of course I said "Sure." Now here I am getting all nervous like a little kid around him cause I thought he was so cute. He then asked "Can I see your scissors?" So I gave them to him. Then he asked "Can I cut your hair?"
I was so into him and memorized I said "Sure why not." I thought he was joking. He took a chunk of my hair and chop there it went. After he cut my hair I snapped out of my little fantasy and said "Oh crap my hair is gone, now what?" I look at him and said "What did I just do?" He said "You let me cut your hair and now you need to go on a date with me." I kept staring at him and agreed to the date, but when I looked at my hair I almost cried. But I didn't think he was so serious about cutting my hair, so it's my fault and my hormones for getting out of whack.
After he left I looked at the chunk of hair missing. It was a 6 inch difference missing on my head. So I had to cut the rest of my hair to make it even with the rest. The lesson here is never allow a customer to joke around with you about cutting your hair when your the stylist. However, hair can be fixed and evened out the right way. It will grow back. Needless to say he was my first fiance that I was suppose to marry, but things went wrong after 3 years. Thank God, because I ended up finding my prince charming and having a beautiful family now.
Some of my best kept beauty secrets are real winners. I don't want to give them all away, then they won't be my secrets anymore. However I will give you a few that hopefully will help many out.
Most people when they color their hair usually wash and condition the hair first then apply the color. Well, let your hair go 2 days without washing and then apply the new color. The results will be more vibrant, shiner, and have better coverage control.
Have any raw potatoes? Not only do they help bring a fever down, which I wrote about a few years ago they also help tired eyes, and keep you from excessive sweating. To use for sweating, cup up a slice of potato and place under the armpit. Allow it to stay on for 15 minutes, the starch inside the potato will seep into the skin and stop you from sweating.
In the winter or summer our skin gets severely dry. On some people their skin even flakes up almost looking like they have dandruff on their skin. The key word here is dandruff. Instead of using soap or body wash to cleanse the skin, use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo, which helps dandruff and dry scalp once a week. This will help clear up your skin real fast.

The hair coloring story was fun.
That's a funny story about the guy who cut your hair. What we don't do when a crush strikes us!
Good one!
Great stories! Thanks for the tips. I always go a day and a half without washing before I color, then I wait a day and a half to wash it again. It seems to help a lot!
Fun results out of an accident! My aunt mixes amazing colors all the time as well, mixing purple or blue with brown for me :)
