05. BAFTA Security Quote
Jonathan Ross on security at the BAFTA Awards: Security is, of course, super tight. I have personally checked that all the doors and windows are secure, and I can give you my own promise that Ricky Gervais cannot get into the building. You're all safe.
Even though I think people have gone overboard on criticizing Ricky Gervais for making fun of celebrities while hosting the Golden Globes recently, I did find him reassuring the celebrities that they were all safe to be rather funny.
04. Movie Spoiler Quote
Jonathan Ross on the movie Inception: If you haven't seen it, don't worry, I won't spoil the ending. I can't. I didn't understand it!
His quote regarding Inception was funny because that's true for many people who saw the film.
03. BAFTA Award Show Quote
Jonathan Ross on how the award show will work: So, here's how this evening will work, ladies and gentlemen: It's fairly straight forward... I will introduce each category, then a talented and hopefully attractive member of the film community will read the nominations, and then whichever person from the cast or crew of The King's Speech has won, will come up onto the stage...
Another quote that is funny because it was mostly true.
02. Movie Lessons Quote
Jonathan Ross on what he learned from the movies: (The Kids Are All Right) taught me a family can function wonderfully without a male role model; The Social Network taught me money can't buy you happiness; and The Last Airbender taught me that my local cinema will not give you your money back no matter how strong you think your case is.
His delivery of the joke was what I found to be the most funny, but even if you didn't watch the BAFTAs, the quote still funny.
01. Film Industry Quote
Jonathan Ross on the film industry (almost): Now, a lot of people think that the film industry is a bitchy, backstabbing, paranoid world of naked selfish ambition. Well, it isn't. They're obviously thinking of ballet. Did you see Black Swan? What a film, an incredible film, but how dark was that? ...So dark that it took me a whole weekend of watching my GLEE box set just to get my razzamatazz back. ...When I finished Black Swan, first thing I did was (rush around) to make sure Billy Elliot was OK.
This was a funny lead-in to praising Black Swan. But I also thought it was funny how he managed to throw in everyone's favorite, Glee and Billy Elliot. (Billy Elliot is another movie about ballet if you haven't seen that one).
