Rita Clemens from Rita rocks played by Nicole Sullivan and it airs on Lifetime Monday nights this spring at 8:30. She brings a completely new level of motherhood comedy to television. She is the TV mom of Shannon and Haley, has oodles of pre-puberty insights from the younger daughter, and deals with teenage drama from the older daughter. She makes motherhood look funny, and shows us all that it is okay to laugh at some of the aspects of parenthood.
Reba played by Reba McIntire nightly on lifetime this spring at eight EST, the feisty redheaded Diva is a single TV mom. She has the teenage drama thing going on like most of us parents, but she handles it with ease. Reba is neighbors with her ex and his air headed new wife, who befriends Reba and this, is pure comedy. I do not think I could be as nice to the new wife as Reba is and she makes motherhood seem funny. She is a mom I enjoy watching.
Then you have funny moms in reruns on the spring TV shows for spring, no list would be complete without these. Just because no current shows are being made about the following women does not mean they don't belong here, motherhood on television has never been funnier.
Claire Huxtable played by Phylicia Rashād on the Cosby show TV land 9 and 10 EST weekly was a super mom who was even funnier than her husband Cliff played by Bill Cosby. Claire was a hard-hitting lawyer, who made her five children tow the line and made Motherhood on TV seem more like real life. She was romantic, funny and I loved it when she would tell Cliff the way it was.
Marge Simpson was and still is a wacky wonderful blue haired funny mom. Who could not love the humor of Homer's counterpart? Julie Kavner, who provides Marge's sarcastic brand of humor, is awesome. This funny mom has a non-helpful partner. Her husband is more like a fourth child, rather than a life partner but Marge takes it all in stride. If only we all could have Marge's sense of humor when dealing with the issues of motherhood.
Lois Griffin from the Family Guy is another funny TV mom, and gets her voice from Alex Borstein who is famous for the role on MAD TV. Lois is married to a wise cracking Peter who is a bit of a whiner at times. She turns a blind eye to the rambling of her smart aleck baby, and still loves him brother Chris and sister Meg anyways, showing us all that a mom's love can conquer everything.
Be sure to watch these funny spring TV shows about mom's in the world of television. These women seem to make motherhood seem easy and will show us the lighter side of the toughest job you will ever love.

good one! thanks!
I loved the Cosby show...
Why arent there any stand up shows with women over 40.... its a conspiracy to keep us out of the picture and shut us up. We have alot to say.... and can say it funnier than a bunch of 20 yr olds who get all the air time.
Great work Amy.
I just don't watch TV anymore - I do remember Claire Huxtable, though!
i never really found claire huxable a funny character though.
Now these I've seen most of!
