Future Hall of Fame NFL Record Breakers: Who Will Break Jerry Rice Touchdown or Receiving Record?

Jerry Rice is considered one of the true iron men of the NFL, and his exemplary quality of play has set him apart from the rest of the pack in relation to past and present wide receivers in the NFL. Jerry Rice was always one step ahead pertaining to his work ethic, and his dedication to the game of pro football. The very first minute that Jerry Rice touched the pigskin - it was apparent that he had the talent and skill to become a great wide receiver in the NFL. Six years after Rice would retire from the NFL, he would be a first ballot lock to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010; how fitting it would be that this Hall of Fame class may be one of the greatest ever. Even though Jerry Rice 22895 yards and 197 touchdowns is an NFL record, it will be but a matter of time before his all time records will someday be broken. One of the more interesting observations about Jerry Rice, after the 1995 season - Rice would never have another double digit touchdown performance. Just imagine for a moment if Jerry Rice did not have the talents of Joe Montana and Steve Young, would he have had the same stats at the end of his 21 year tenure in the NFL?

Jerry Rice may be hearing "footsteps in the dark" pertaining to his wide receiver records. Many of the wide receivers in the game today are just as well conditioned as Rice was during his prime, and only two receivers have a chance to break his hallowed receiving records.

Terrell Owens has been one of the most productive wide receivers in the last 15 years. Terrell Owens was a former teammate of Jerry Rice, and a number of Rice work ethic and desire to be the best - assist in Owens giving the ultimate respect to his Hall of Fame predecessor. Terrell Owens has played 203 games, and has 15103 receiving yards, and 144 touchdowns, one could argue that if Owens played for only one or two teams in his career - his stats may even be more impressive. Terrell Owens has sustained only one major injury during his time in the NFL, this is quite remarkable considering how the game has become much more physical - challenging receivers to be in the best condition possible.

Randy Moss has been a beast on the field pertaining to his natural ability to make catches look like child's play. If any one player has changed the way the wide receiver position is played and viewed in the eyes of football fans and the NFL, Randy Moss is the player whose highlight reels will show how amazing his skills are. Randy Moss shows no sign of slowing down, and his 14604 yards, and 151 touchdowns is very impressive, considering this is his thirteenth year in the NFL. Randy Moss has played 189 games, and just like Owens, Moss has only one injury to date, and this is as well a very impressive testament to his conditioning. Barring injury - Randy Moss could shatter Jerry Rice receiving records. Just imagine if Randy Moss manages to play for only five more years, and has a productive output year after year, he will be the first and fastest player in NFL history to be named the new wide receiver record holder. Both of these assessments are purely a hypothetical analysis, only time will tell which player has the tenacity and will power to become the new king of the hill.
