Future Terminator Films Ditches Arnie

The Terminator will be back, but Arnold Schwarzenegger wont be returning along with the series.

It has been announced that the Halcyon Company has plans to revive the Terminator series after the production company purchased all the rights from producers Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajina, who have produced since Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The plan is to release at least three more films. Terminator 4 is already been fast-tracked for production, and it is hoped that the film will be ready for the theaters by summer 2009. As part of the deal scriptwriters John Brancato and Michael Ferris will script the new film, but it is unknown as who will direct or star. Director James Cameron is definitely not involved, so that's one person we can chalk out.

The infamous Terminator played by Arnold Schwarzenegger will not be a part of any of the future Terminator films. His character is not necessary as the storyline is supposed to focus on John Conner in his thirties, leading the remainder of the human race in its ever-worsening battle against the machines. The film will mark the beginning of a new trilogy instead of a continuation of the previous three films. Also the fact that Arnold will remain California governor until 2011, makes him too busy to even consider starring in the future three films, and there are legal restrictions as a governor as well.

Halcyon, a privately funded company, is positive that the series will do just fine without Arnold Schwarzenegger as the gun-toting cyborg from the future.

"With T3, we included many incidental details and plot points that, along with the ain narrative, set the stage for an entirely new set of inter-related stories covering the future adventures of John Connor and the Terminators," producer Moritz Borman said. "This new Terminator trilogy will build upon the already huge worldwide Terminator fan base, which was both revitalized and expanded with the global success of T3."

The Halcyon company has as well snagged all the future merchandising and licensing rights to the franchise, future revenue generated by T3: Rise of the Machines. They also have bought a portion of the rights to an almost guaranteed television series based on the Terminator series.

It is said that Warner Bros. Have already filmed a pilot for The Sarah Conner Chronicles, a hour long show. It seems that Fox has already expressed interest in the television project.
