Loughner, a resident of Tucson, was immediately taken into custody after his shooting spree in a local Safeway grocery parking lot where Giffords had planned to speak.
Several reports about Loughner have come out but his motives for the rampage are unknown at this point. According to a report by RadarOnline.com, he attended Northwest Aztec Middle College and Pima Community College.
Additionally, the website has obtained videos that Loughner self-produced on You Tube and state they don't appear to deal with "any current political issues."
However, after viewing the videos, it's easy to glean that Loughner has some bizarre ideas and has some rather disturbed images of the United States and at least its financial system.

Loughner has also posted MySpace Photos which are linked here.
He touts Hitler's Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto has some of his favorite books.
As stated, no one knows for sure if Loughner's shooting rampage was politically motivated. According to a report by the Associated Press, Giffords father was asked by the New York Post whether or not his daughter had any enemies to which he replied, "The whole tea party."
Giffords was the youngest woman ever elected to Congress at the age of 36, and has been the target of several threats, several of which the AP states to appear come from right-wing activists.
In March, Giffords voted in favor of the health-care overhaul and later the glass doors of her Tucson office were broken.

Post a CommentFrom seeing Loughner's writings, it sounds as though he has a delusional disorder of some kind, and probably is confused enough that he may not have strong political ties with any group. I have a close relative with a similar affliction, and have seen first-hand the effect some of the Tea Party/Sarah Palin rants have on people like this. My relative may not have completely understood the political implications involved in the last election, but he clearly understood when high profile people he respected placed target symbols on other politicians, and told him to "reload" or "lock and load". Those kinds of messages are crystal clear. I can understand republicans wanting to protect their own, but the inflammatory rhetoric has to stop now. If the politicians who were involved with inciting violence in the last election don't get the message after this shooting, they need to be prosecuted. Perhaps that's why Obama sent the FBI director to Tuscon today.
