I love to surf the Internet and everyone knows that when you surf the Internet it is very easy to get sidetracked from what you were originally looking for. That is how I came to own many of the cool gadgets that I now own. However, I learned a valuable lesson about shopping on the Internet, especially when it comes to gadgets. Do you research! When I come across something that I know I have to have, I Google the exact description and find out as much as I can about it. I check to find the best prices on it and if it is a good product. I do this by reading reviews about it. I will then check eBay to see if there are any better prices. Then I check the warranty. I have found out that if there is not a warranty offered, it probably is not an original product, but a knock-off.
Recently I was at a flea market and a person was selling iPods. He had a price that was at least half of the selling price anywhere. I asked if they were real iPods and he said that they were. So I asked him that if I had the chip that runners use in their Nike plus shoes that will connect to the iPod and give me information such as how far I had run, how many calories I burned and so forth, he laughed and said no. Then he said that most people were not as smart as I was. Therefore, sometimes you just have to know what questions to ask before making a purchase that seems too good to be true. You know what they say, "if it seems too good to be true, then it usually is".
Another thing to look for when making a purchase, especially a large one, is whether your local or online merchants have a price matching policy. This is where; if you find the same item at another store and they offer it cheaper, the store you are in will match the price and sometimes they will even give you an additional 10% off to buy it at their store.
The most important things to remember about buying any gadget, large or small, are to do your research before making a purchase. Make sure you know everything about the product. Is it a product that many people will sell a knock-off in its place? Then be aware. Are there other stores that may sell it for less money, and do the price match? Are you willing to wait a few months for the price to come down if it is relatively new on the market?
