Gag Gifts for the 40th Birthday Party

Chris G.
40th birthday gag gifts are an essential and fun part of every 40th birthday party. This is the first opportunity for you to stick it to your friend or spouse about how old they're getting.

Don't let this golden opportunity pass you by...you know they'll do the same to you when the time comes.

Gag gifts directly aimed at making the birthday person feel old are plentiful. Some are manufactured and ready to go, and some take a little thought and work on your part. Here's a good sampling of over the hill gag gifts:

  • Adult diapers
  • A mega bottle of Advil or some other pain medication...or Geritol or multivitamins, something an old person needs to stay healthy
  • Denture cleaners (only do this if the person doesn't have dentures)
  • A decorated walker or cane (decorate it with stuff for old people, like a denture holders, or coupons for early bird specials)
  • A fake gift certificate for a half price prostate exam. Or give them a self prostate exam kit complete with rubber gloves, KY jelly, a piece of leather to bite into, a mirror, and a set of pliers and forceps...maybe a hammer and screwdriver just to make a point.

40th birthday gag gifts don't necessarily need to be about a person's age. There's a whole category of gifts that are just fun to give.

Simple, stupid gag gifts can get just as much of a laugh as over the hill gag gifts. Here are some old standbys:

  • Electric hand buzzers
  • Water squirting pens
  • Whoopie cushions (my brother gets one of these every year)
  • Fart machines, or more PC: flatulent sound makers (hint: wrap this present with batteries in it, and hide it amongst the other gifts...keep the remote and let er rip to make present opening even more fun)
  • The dollar on a string gag gift
  • Naked lady or man pen

This is only a small sampling of fun gag gifts. If you type in, "gag gifts" into google you'll get a zillion more ideas.

Whether you buy 40th birthday gag gifts aimed at a person's age or just gifts that make you laugh, the key is to put some thought into the gift. Sometimes the best gifts are the ones you put together yourself, like the prostate exam complete self-test kit. Of course this one you don't want to give to a woman...
