Gaiam Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss

Gaiam Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss is a three part multi-level yoga workout DVD. I really like this DVD because it is literally for all levels and it makes it easy to follow just your level without having to listen to extra alternate ways to do a pose.

The Gaiam Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss workout video is unlike any workout video I have ever had. This DVD is essentially 4 levels of workouts on one DVD. You get to choose your level before starting the workout. There are 4 different instructors each at a different level. You can choose to follow all of them, meaning the main one with modification options being announced as you go along. Or you can choose your specific level and your viewing will be focused only on the instructor of the level you choose.

With all the different levels of workouts it has, it comes to a total of more than 4 hours of workouts. The actual single workout alone is only 45 minutes. Really this video can grow with you, with no need to go out and purchase new DVD's when your level increases.

You can choose between the combined workout where all instructors are shown and modifications are shown as an option as you go along or Slightly Modified where you will view an instructor whose workout varies just slighty from the workout without any modifications or Partially Modified which is for those with a little more flexibility but still some tightness and last the Fully Modified workout is for those who have tightness which requires the need for props for most of the poses and the instructor shown will show every pose modified to fit the level so you will not injure yourself. Also if you choose to watch the main one, which includes all 4 instructors at the same time you can switch angles allowing you to focus on any instructor during the workout without going back to the menu.

I personally enjoy watching the main workout and not focus on a single instructor. It works best for me because I only need a modification on one or two poses and sometimes I need no modifications. Since the main workout also points out alternate modifications it works best for me. Allowing me to modify when and if I need it.

With the varying degrees of levels the video has, I don't think beginners would have any problems trying the Gaiam Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss workout. Advanced yogis might not find this video very challenging, though the main instructor, Suzanne Deason, does do the workout with no modifications . Though, I think beginner and intermediate yogis would find a nice challenge with this. I find it gets my heart going a little even though it is not a cardio workout.

The workout may require you to have a mat, a brick, a strap or a blanket. The requirement of a specific prop depends on your level of modification. If you need a full or the partial modification workout you will need all the props. If you are flexible enough to follow with no or only slight modification you do not need any props, with the exception of possibly a mat.

I can't say I have dropped a lot of weight doing the Gaiam Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss workout because even as stated in the video you need to practice other good habit to get weight loss in addition to consistency. This video alone will may not make weight fall off. My biggest problem is I go through periods where I do not do the workout at all. I wouldn't doubt a noticeable weight loss if I could just do it consistently. When I do do it consistently I not only feel lighter from my body being more open but I also notice I don't have as much cravings as I normally do to eat when I am not hungry.

This workout is a 45 minute long workout but it is cut into 3 parts so if you do not have time to do the full workout you can pick and choose just one or 2 to do. Each pose is slowly worked into and there is a great variation of poses from mountain pose and warrior pose to triangle pose and wide leg downward dog.

Gaiam Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss is one of my favorite yoga DVD's. Its multi-level workouts make it well worth the price and the yoga workout is a perfect challenge for me. Whether you want to lose weight or not this workout is a great workout for anyone who enjoys yoga.
