If you are reading this article then you know how hard building and keeping muscle can be. Sometimes it seems like you train as hard as you can, sleep and recover well, and have your diet dialed in, but aren't making gains like when you first started working out. There are many ways to solve this problem, and there is a supplement that can help you pack on those pounds!
Arachidonic acid is an omega-6 fatty acid that is essential to the proper functioning of the prostaglandins system in the human body. There have been many studies completed that link prostaglandins to increased muscle growth and size.
Arachidonic acid's effectiveness can be proven with just one study. There was a study based on drugs that inhibit the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins to measure what would happen to the muscle building process system. Twenty-four young male subjects took over the counter drugs such as Advil and Tylenol to complete resistance training. Researchers then tested the effect these drugs would have on protein synthesis and protein breakdown. It was found that these subjects had a significant decrease in both protein synthesis and breakdown compared to subjects only taking a placebo.
Cycles of arachidonic acid are usually done for 50 days at 1,000mg per day. Products that contain the proper amount of arachidonic acid in capsule form include X-Factor by Molecular Nutrition and Max-Out by iForce Nutrition. X-Factor is pure arachidonic acid and Max-Out is arachidonic acid plus other goodies to help boost the effectiveness of the supplement. A cycle of either will cost anywhere between $90 and $100 if purchased online. Remember two bottles are needed for 1 cycle! You can also purchase "bulk X-Factor" sold by Nutraplanet.com in powder form. There will be no difference in the effectiveness of the capsules versus the powder. The powder costs approximately $75 for a complete cycle.
Gains on X-Factor have been reported to be similar to experiences when first starting a workout program. If your diet and training is in check you can expect to gain anywhere from 5 to 15 pounds on just one cycle! People have also experienced a leaning out effect while also gaining lean body mass. It is important to realize that this supplement is completely non-hormonal and will not shut you down like steroids or pro-hormones. Arachdionic acid should only be consumed in supplement form by people over the age of 18. It should not be taken by people that have pre-existing inflammatory conditions such as asthma as the inflammatory effects of the acid may worsen the condition. Do not take arachidonic acid for longer than 50 days at a time, and take at least a 50-75 day break between cycles. For best results increase your daily calorie intake by 500-100 and make sure you are getting at least 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight.
These products can be purchased at most online supplement retailers or at brick and mortar retailers such as Vitamin Shoppe. Hopefully you will experience amazing results while supplementing arachidonic acid into your training protocol! Good luck on your quest to gain lean body mass and slashing body fat!
