Gamblers Profit on Celebrity Misfortunes

After the media blitz that surrounded Paris Hilton's incarceration, house arrest, and return to prison, many American citizens may feel that they are the victims. Celebrities latest exploits seem to be the subject of every news broadcast. However some people who feel that they have unwittingly been plunged into the sea of celebrity gossip are taking the chance to make a few dollars.

On the website Bodog.com, adults can wager on the next celebrity to be arrested for DUI. Right now, the odds favor Lily Allen, who is coming in at 4 to 1. Of course, Paris Hilton made the list with the lowest odds, only 12 to 1, probably due to her incarceration for the next month.

Amy Winehouse and Britney Spears are tied at 6 to 1 odds, as are David Hasselhoff and Akron at 13 to 2 odds. And although Paula Abdul looked particularly sober in this last season of American Idol, you can still bet that she will be the next to be arrested for DUI at 8 to 1 odds.

For those that don't want to pick a single celebrity for their chance for some summer cash, the gambling site is also offering the whole cast of Lost at 7 to 1 odds. Of course, as celebrity gossip site TMZ points out, Michelle Rodriquez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Cynthia Watros are all of the cast, making that bet a bit of a long shot.

If you do decide to make a bet, you should read the fine print, because you only have until December 31 to win. And if you were considering ordering drinks for your favorite celebrity, keep in mind that there is a fifty dollar limit for the bet.

If betting on celebrity DUI seems crass, you could also bet on the future career plans of both The View and Rosie O'Donnell. The gambling site asks "Which network will be the first to sign Rosie O'Donnell to host her own television show?" The gambling site seems to be favoring NBC to sign the former "Queen of Nice".

And if you have any feelings on Rosie's replacement on the talk show, "The View", Bodog also gives you the opportunity to place a wager on the outcome. The list of potential candidates includes Roseanne Barr, Bette Midler, and Marie Osmond. However, frequent guest co-host Kathy Griffin seems to have the inside track according to the betting site at 3 to 1 odds.
