Gambling Addiction: A Poem

Jimmy Smith
Gambling is a terrible disease
It is addicting and bad for your wealth
The roulette wheel can be an awful tease
Gambling problems can damage your health

Addicts hide their problem from those who care
Borrowing money and pay advances
They should be rescued from their deep despair
Thinking there is luck helping their chances

They will often tell you about winning
But will never reveal a major loss
The casino manager is grinning
As he consumes his jumbo shrimp with sauce

If you think the addiction is remote
Their crisis keeps the casinos afloat
