Materials needed:
1. Stick about 10-12 inches long ( 1 or 2 pieces depending upon the number of participants)
2. Lively music ( can be a Christmas song but a lively one, or marching music)
3. someone who will serve as music operator.
4. A leader or facilitator of the game
Mechanics of the game:
Let the participants find their seats. You can arrange them in a line following the sides of the room or the place where you have the party, or you can let them sit in a circle formation. Get ready with your stick. Instruct the music operator to play the music and suddenly stop it in a minute or so. When the music starts to play, pass the stick to the person next to you, either to your left side or right. If you have a big group, the facilitator will hold the two sticks and pass it together to both left and right side. Participants keep on passing the stick to the person next to them and when the music stops, the one who has the stick will suffer a consequence. You might let him do things that are funny, or let him dance, sing, render a poem, play musical instruments, or show his talents. You must be creative to think of consequence that will make the occasion colorful. As the music starts to play again, the passing of the stick will continue and as the music stops, another consequence to the one who has the stick. will be given. Make it a rule of the game that the stick must be carefully handed to the next person. No throwing is allowed. As the game continues, participants are scared to hold the stick for fear that they might be the next victim. This is exciting when the operator plays a trick by making a contrast of low and high volume before he finally stops the music completely. It will make the participants scream. This is really fun. You will not feel sleepy but enjoy the game for a long time. If you have a big group of participants, it will be effective to have one who will serve as judge to see to it of who has the stick when the music stopped.
You can give consequence right away or have a variation. What you can do also is to collect an item from the person who has the stick then continue the game. Every person who has the stick will give an item to be redeemed later. When you have enough items collected, let the owners redeem it by doing something. Again be creative to think of things that they will do in order to get back their items. You can let them do the consequence individually or by group.

Post a CommentThis sounds like a really fun game. I'll have to give it a try when I have more than a few people around and a movie or a board game is met with bored sighs.
