Game Review: Desktop Tower Defense:Towers (Pt 3)

Jon Sugi
Desktop Tower Defense, this is a flash game based on the simple idea to stop the creeps. The creep is a cute and cuddly enemy that moves from one side to another. Your job is to stop them by shooting them with your towers. Here is the basic rundown of the towers.

The towers are the most important part of the game so thats where we will start. Pellet, Squirt, Dart, Swarm, Frost, Bash and Ink Towers are available in the easy, normal and hard modes. There are two more towers for the challenge and fun modes. They are the Snap and Boost Towers. These are exclusively available in those two modes previously mentioned.

The Snap tower is a new guy to the tower family. This tower is a bomb waiting to explode depending on your timing and upgrades, This tower does the most damage in the game at a whopping 3200 damage to anything in its radius. However this is a one time use per tower. And the cost to upgrade this tower is rather costly. However if you set one in the right place it can kill.

The nice thing about this tower is it will do damage to both ground and air units. Another massive bonus for this tower is that it will stun enemies within the fire radius. I have used this tower as a last defense shield near my other towers. When I fire the Snap tower it will do damage and freeze the enemies.

Then my towers will take out the frozen enemies or bosses. You should only need one or two of these towers since they cost a lot. Even though their advantages outweigh the cost you still want to evenly upgrade your normal towers.

The Boost tower is a new upgrade in the Desktop Tower Defense 1.5 version. This tower will increase the damage your towers do. The damage increase ranges from ten percent up to fifty percent at maximum. Here are some numbers to help show how incredibly useful this tower is. A tier five pellet tower (Sniper Tower) has a normal max damage of 400, with a fifty percent bonus it does 600 damage.

A tier five Squirt tower (Typhoon tower) now does 480 damage. And the Snap Tower will do a whopping 4800 damage. So as you can see this tower is well worth the cost. And this is one of the most reasonable towers to upgrade. The cost is 100 gold each time. There is no raise in cost to upgrade as you go through the game. The greatest weakness of this tower is the range. At maximum range this tower can service eight towers surrounding the Boost tower.
