"Frogger: Helmet Chaos" is another remake of the popular Nintendo game "Frogger" which has had a couple of remakes over the years. This is a retro type of game with old school game mechanics with more updated controls. Though the controls are updated they still feel awkward and limited. This may prove to be a problem for gamers who are not familiar with the previously released "Frogger" games. For those who are accustomed to the controls of the old remakes then you won't be encountering any problems at all. This new remake does not really have too much difference with the old ones.

The game features of "Frogger: Helmet Chaos" may be just the same as the old ones but its design has absolutely been updated. The frog in this new game has a new look and it now talks unlike the old ones. His goals have also evolved through the years. His goals used to be really simple but now in this new game, they have become more complicated. His goal in this game is to save his friends from a mind-controlling head gear that is part of an evil crocodile's plan. The story behind his goals is not really essential to the game and the way it is delivered in the game is a little awkward. The voice-over feature of the game is a nice addition but the insufficient cartridge medium of the Nintendo DS makes this feature inefficient. The player has to manually forward the accompanying text of the narration. Because of this the text gets out of sync with the narration.

"Frogger: Helmet Chaos" pays tribute to the classic "Frogger" game by featuring a mini-game that is close to the original arcade game. Unlike the old ones, this new remake is the first one that was made in 3D. Now that the game is in 3D, the camera views are more realistic. It is a shame though that the view still cannot be zoomed out. It would have been a great feature for this game where there are times when you need a better view of the land's lay-out. The characters in the game have also become more realistic with finer features. Their movements are also more fluid and less awkward than the older versions. The loading time for this game is also fast and the game saving interface is also very efficient.

There is really nothing extraordinary about "Frogger: Helmet Chaos" since this is just a remake of the classic game but it is still a lot of fun to play. The game is filled with adventure and cute characters that add interest to the game. It is simple and yet very entertaining.
