It's not often that a sequel does what the first great video game did but does it better and with an even more inventive flair that makes the second one as good if not better than the first. Little Big Planet 2 exclusively on the PlayStation 3 is a platforming adventure with a new story that follows the unique adventuring from the first game in a new and exciting way.

The main area of Little Big Planet 2 is the story which adds a new adventure to the world of Sackboy with the new plot that works well and is interesting enough to keep you gaming. The story really doesn't matter all that much but it does go along with the world and themes of the unique platforming game.

Each of the 30 levels is a new take on the same style of the Little Big Planet world and are tough in the same way the first game was. You have a limited amount of moves with a few new ones that were not in the first game to your list of things Sackboy can do.

The same great platforming style from the first game and going back to years before in games like Mario Brothers is here but with the Little Big Planets slightly different take using forward and backward movement. You can play the game solo or with others in a coop mode and for some of the available collectibles this is the only way to get at them.

The game is fun and if the game only came with the story mode it would make for a great game and well worth the cost but you also have a create your own level editor and the huge amount of content available from this. There are over 3 .5 million levels and user created content available on the PlayStation Network starting from the first game that is compatible with this edition.

That is enough content that you could play this game and not bother with any others and still not get through all of it in your lifetime. The bonus of all this content makes up for the fact that the game is not compatible with the new Move controller system but this is not a problem as the regular Six Axis controller works more than well enough.

One part of Little Big Planet and the sequel is that you have to play the single player or solo gaming to unlock the content you use in the level creation. Of course with the vast amount of content available from other users you could spend years simply playing other peoples content like air hockey or rat races.

The game works well and is a fine way to spend some quality gaming time and with the huge amount of available online content truly makes a fantastic purchase for gamers. Video and audio are both fantastic and work just fine along with the gameplay with that slightly odd flashy Little Big Planet way.

Creating your own levels works very well and after the designers of LBP 2 made this part creating their own levels was probably more an argument of how to do things story wise and not editor wise. The editor is easy to design and create, add your own items and devices and even create the backgrounds and music for user created content.

Like the first game the objects you use are ones you collect in the story mode so it does require at least some work to get those items and devices unlocked. Even after going through only a few levels you have enough items to use and work on your own level designs but going through a good portion of the games story will unlock a lot of editor content.

Having to play cooperatively to unlock some content becomes an added gameplay content and does add its own difficulties but it also adds a lot of fun. The camera can play tricks when adding a second or more players but the coop mode works well and just adds friends to the mix of fun gaming.

Little Big Planet 2 is a fantastic platformer and like other classics before it continues the same great gaming but adds a few new twists to make the sequel well worth a purchase. The additional content also adds more than enough content including player versus player levels and modes like racing and the opportunity to import all the content from the first game including unlocked items.

Little Big Planet 2 is well worth a purchase and with the huge amount of additional content choices, level creation choices and all the new content available is a definite must for a platforming game. Like the first game and all its varied available content and gaming level creation choices the second in the series is more than a worthwhile purchase.

If you are interested in this game at all or others around you are do not bother with a rental, you will be sorry to have to return it. Little Big Planet 2 will be the single best purchase in gaming with its vast variety of gaming design and creation you could purchase.
