New ideas in the puzzle genre are hard to come by. Roogoo may not be a completely innovative game with similarities to Tetris but it has an interesting twist on the genre making it both fun and entertaining. Although it consists of 45 levels, the levels range from very easy to very hard so the game is not for everybody.

Although there is an attempt at a story, it doesn't have much effect on the gameplay. You play a roogoo, one of the few people of an alien race who haven't changed into a mean nasty meemoo.Your job is to stop the meemoo and the prince in their efforts to attain the falling meteors all for themselves.

The game play involves falling meteors which are actually blocks for us normal humans. The game play involves stacking blocks and manoeuvring them through the various round platforms. The blocks need to be stacked based on the colour and they fall through when it is stacked high enough. Although the graphics make it seem like a game a child should be playing but the levels quickly ramp up in difficulty becoming faster and many different obstacles start getting in the way.

The game is fun in that it keeps throwing wrenches into the game play to keep it fresh. From having 5 blocks to worry about while rotating the platforms quickly to match the platforms to the blocks. Instead of making the game faster and harder through a higher quantity of blocks. It instead makes the game harder through the games mechanics, slowly adding more things to adapt to including meemoos, ninja meemoos who can only be knocked out when their swords aren't glowing, flipping platforms, covers for holes and other interesting mechanics. Fortunately it never gets as frustrating as other puzzlers and can be overcome with a little practice.

In terms of graphics, don't expect ultra realistic graphics. It has a cute and cartoony style that will appeal to many people but it definitely will not win any awards for its graphics. The game moves fluidly and is a joy to play.

Although when you first lay your eyes on it, it looks like a normal puzzler. Its fun factor soon becomes apparent after you begin. The game play keeps it fresh and challenging for the 45 stages and will appeal to beginner puzzlers and expert puzzlers alike but for expert puzzlers the experience may be over too soon and leave you wanting more levels. Overall roogoo is a good game and is worth a try for fans of the old falling-blocks games like Tetris with a twist or are just looking for a decent puzzle game to play.
