'Game of Thrones' Actor Kit Harington Opens Up About 'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D'
Shares Experiences on the New Horror Sequel
Horror website Bloody Disgusting had a chance to talk with "Game of Thrones" actor Kit Harington about his role in the upcoming movie "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D." He stated his hope that the movie will appeal to fans of the horror genre and the video game.
"I think it's pretty scary. Hopefully people who like the first one and like the genre and the game will enjoy it. It's got all the elements they loved from the first (film) and I think it will really scare people. It's horrific."
Harrington also talked about the similarities between working on a television show like "Game of Thrones" and then stepping into the world of "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D." The horror sequel is his feature film debut.
"'Game of Thrones' is so much like a movie there wasn't a huge difference when it came to 'Silent Hill.' It was filmed in 3D, which makes a huge difference for the people behind the camera, but for me it's just pretty much the same thing and doing what I do. It was bizarre going from sword fighting and horse riding and all that fantasy stuff on 'Game Of Thrones' to running away from monsters."
Another strange bit of coincidence Harington experienced was the casting of "Game of Thrones" co-star Sean Bean in "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D." He couldn't be more excited to be working with him on two different projects.
"'Silent Hill' gave me more experience in front of the camera, which was great, and of course I love working with Sean. I get on really well with him, which is lucky because it would be a nightmare if I didn't."
"Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" is the sequel to the original 2006 big-screen video game adaptation. The film tells the story of a young girl named Heather who finds out on her eighteenth birthday that she has been living a lie. It is revealed that the girl's parents changed her identity to protect her from evil forces. She is transported into an alternate world where there exists a town called Silent Hill. The town is under the power of two evil individuals who lead a cult.
The first "Silent Hill" film was an interesting trip into madness. There was a claustrophobic feel to the film. It did a great job of putting you into a state of panic from being trapped in some sort of psychotic nightmare. Anyone who has seen "The Twilight Zone: The Movie" or John Carpenter's "In the Mouth of Madness" can tell you that the whole idea of being trapped in a town you can never get out of is nothing new. That didn't stop the recycled idea from still feeling terrifying. Let's hope that "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" can capture the same atmosphere as the first entry.
The "Silent Hill" movies are based on video games published by Konami.
