Games for the Park

Leigh S.
This summer, make some memories by taking your family to the park. There are many simple games that are free to play. All you need is a little creativity.

Sardines: This is a new take on an old game that reverses the concept. Simply put, one person hides, and the rest seek him or her. When they find the hidden person, they hide with them. The last person to find the hiding group is out.

Frisbee Golf: Many parks have Frisbee golf set up, but you can recreate this anywhere. All you need is one frisbee per person. You will also need several identifiers to mark the target. Station targets around the park. Make the game as long as you want by increasing the number of targets. Each person takes turn tossing their frisbee to the targets. Whoever has the least amount of throws at the end of the game wins.

Ladder Ball: This game requires buying or building a set. The set has two of each. The "ladder" has three rungs, and also comes with 4 golf ball ropes. These ropes have a golf ball on each end. Two teams take turns tossing the golf ball ropes to the ladder. Each rung has different point amounts assigned. The objective is to get your rope to stay on the rungs of the ladders. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Voila! There you have three simple and cheap games that you can play at the park this summer. Now go out, and make some memories.
