There is a different kind of addiction that is akin to being possessed, which is sweeping cyberspace. The gaming addiction. As in all addiction, this one is costing addicts money, time and energy.
While it is true that many online games are free, there are also many which are not. You have to buy level up cards and many things besides. Gaming is time consuming. It eats up time supposed to be spent for studying, working and living a life! Hours upon precious hours, of time and loads of energy, wasted on fantasy and role-playing in the virtual world. Enjoyable? Maybe, for now, while the fad last. Every moment of enjoyment is paid for, with a toll on the gamers pocket, health and sanity.
Gamers are living in a virtual world. A fantastic world which is far remove from the real one. The only one we got. Gamers need to get off games of the virtual world and get on with the game of life.
With the use of will power, a lot of prayer and help from above, gaming addiction could be successfully gotten over with. All the gaming addict needs to do is spend time elsewhere, far from the computer or gaming console. Spend time with real people, endeavor to cultivate friendship with real people from the real world. With more human contacts, a gaming addict will have less time to spend with a computer. Of course, first the person concerned have to admit that he is addicted to gaming. A person who continue to deny and make excuses for his addiction, can hardly be expected to take steps to fight off such.
Finally, a gaming addict need to rediscover the forgotten passion for life in the real world. To try and do something good which will make a difference in his life and the lives of those people around him. Being a hero in reality is a lot better than being a hero in a fantasy. No high score can beat that!
