Gaming Easter Eggs & Trivia: Final Fight

Capcom's been in the gaming business for 30 years now. This company is responsible for such classic video game characters as Mega Man and Ryu, and Big name series' like Devil May Cry and Resident Evil. Final Fight is one of the reasons Capcom is held in such high regard by retro gamers. This series of games featured tight controls, an interesting cast of characters, and Easter eggs that both shocked and amused fans of their other popular games.

Final Fight 2 saw the introduction of potential Metro City heroes Carlos Miyamoto and Maki, the exclusion of Cody and Guy, and continuous dominance from from one of the greatest grapplers in the history of video games.

For some reason, Capcom wouldn't allow this franchise to shine on it's own merits. If you pay attention to the background scenery in the first stage, you'll notice Chun-Li sitting down, eating a bowl of ramen. Guile, as well as his distinctive head of hair, watches you while taking on the steroid freak Freddie.

Mike Haggar had to be the hardest working Mayor of all time. Aside from ridding his city of riff-raff calling themselves Mad Gear, He was also at one time a professional wrestler. It should be noted that Muscle Bomber 1 & 2(also known as Saturday Night Slam Masters) and Final Fight were released long before Jesse Ventura got the idea to run Minnesota.

Speaking of Slam Masters, there are a few notable cameos in that series as well. His daughter Jessica(used in a plot device to set up the story for final Fight 1) appears in Haggar's win poses. In the Russia stage, Street Fighter's Zangief can be seen amongst those in attendance.

Racing leads to crime?
Mad Gear was a top down arcade racing game, developed by Capcom, in 1989. For the sake of coming up with a better reason to reuse the name other than sheer laziness on the developers part, I assume the characters in the Mad Gear video game ran out of money to maintain their vehicles. It was bound to happen. Because of that, they turned to a life of crime.

Side scrolling beat 'em ups are notorious for having random power ups hidden inside of boxes and barrels. Final Fight games are no different. Aside from cliche items such as turkeys and cake, you can find a miniature figurine of Guy while playing Final Fight 2.
