Gamu Nhengu to Release Charity Christmas Single

Although Gamu Nhengu's "X Factor" dream was cut short, her singing career is far from over. It has been confirmed today that Gamu Nhengu is to release a single in time for Christmas.

Gamu was at the centre of a scandal which saw Cheryl Cole dropping her from the TV talent show at the judges houses stage of the show. Nhengu was one of the favourites to win but her hopes were dashed when places in the live shows were given to Rebecca Ferguson, Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel. Gamu was further snubbed when Cole chose Treyc Cohen as her wildcard act.

Gamu Nhengu may still have the last laugh though. Nhengu is set to release a charity Christmas single on December 13th, which puts her in the race for the Christmas number one. Last year's "X Factor" winner Joe McElderry was denied the number one slot when anti "X Factor" campaigners pleaded for the public to make Rage Against The Machine 2009's Christmas number one. It would be a double slap in the face for Simon Cowell's show if this year's Christmas number one was taken by someone who was ejected from the competition.

The single titled "Where Will You Sleep This Christmas" is to raise funds for a Scottish based charity called Aberlour. Aberlour is a children's charity which gives support to children with disabilities, children whose parents have drug and alcohol problems and children who have run away from home - and much more.

Gamu Nhengu was approached by her former music teacher, David Clifford to record this special song. Nhengu said, "From the minute I heard the song, I loved it. This is the first time I have done anything like this, so I was really honoured when Mr Clifford asked me to record it."

A Facebook page has already been set up in support of Gamu's Christmas single, which can be found here, and the song can be heard there too.

The lyrics are a little reminiscent of Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas". The message of giving to those less fortunate is prominent and it is always a subject close to people's hearts over the festive period. Nhengu's vocal is stunning, and with the popularity of the "X Factor" slipping - there could well be another Christmas number one upset for the 2010 winner.

Well, let's be fair. We don't know exactly what happened and even if the reports were true - SHE didn't break the rules, her mother did. That isn't her fault. :(

Well that's good news. I feel sorry for her in a way, because I did like her and think she deserves a break, but then I am not in favour of anyone who breaks immigration rules, but a talent like hers deserves recognition. If this is for charity then she won't see any of the financial rewards directly I assume, but it ought to lead to subsequent openings in the music industry. I wish her well.
