Gang Violence: How Much is the Fear and Violence Growing?

Is it Too Out of Control to Be Stopped?

dee
Gang Violence has been a major part of the urban cultural landscape since at least the 1830's. Street gangs are organized groups that are often involved in drugs. Weapon trafficking and of course violence. Violence in schools is steadily growing and is creating a rising fear in the students and even the staff. And even though the parents are constantly fearing for their children's lives.

Not many are doing much about it. Some parents that do see the signs are to afraid for the children's and there own lives to say something. Which leaves the question, "What do we do?"

Well there is no sure way for you to deal with Gang Violence but there is one sure thing to be avoided. Do not go it alone. Look for these signs of gangs before heading to a Police station or a school to tell a Authority figure. One major thing that can be done is to look for or learn the signs of gang activity such as graffiti, hand signs, clothing styles, and colors.

The best way to deal with Gang activity is to contact an local law enforcement agency or juvenile probation department. And remember male or female, rich or poor, no matter the race of family style ANYONE can join a gang.

Gang violence and gangs in general were lessening in Long Beach, CA a few years back. Sadly it is on the rise again. Recently at a nearby park some teen girls came over to the concrete picnic table where I was reading. They rather ignored me as they showed a guy writing on the table. They were proudly showing him where they signed their names. I was tempted to use my cellphone to report them to the authorities. But they would simply deny their names were there, that they did it and that they were part of the gang whose grafitti littered the table and benches. Too many young lives have gotten destroyed by the gangs. The MS-13 and Mexican-Mafia are especially brutual in killing and sometimes their targets have no involvement in a rival gang they are trying to control through these random killings. This often makes the teens feel their only choice is to join a gang for group protection. Too sad.
