Gardening

Kanakadurga Dingari
Fresh and sweet smell of mud

Takes back to childhood days

Planting Tomatoes, Green Peppers,

Chilies, Green Beans,

Then corn in a wider space

With parents.

Watering and waiting,

When little seed sprouts

Pushing soil,

It's so amazing to see a plant

Taking birth and so

Excited to see the little sprouts growing

Into plants.

Empty space where

Plants growing

With more leaves, spreading

Their branches

Transformed place

Into a Green garden.

Fresh leaves shine under the sunlight

While watering them

Take a deep breath

To smell Tomato plants.

The green beans climbing onto

Trellis to the terrace,

Grew so fast and all the plants

Flowering.

Few days later we see

Fresh vegetables we

Get to pick taking turns and

They taste so good when mom

Cooked to eat them.

It's the advantage of having a

Garden at home to eat fresh

Tasty vegetables.

Now it's our kids turn to feel

And experience what we did

As kids with our parents

Gardening

Passing from one generation to

Another

To save our Beautiful Planet.

Very nice, gardening is my passion. However, I have not planted any veggies here in Colorado, only herbs, fruit trees and flowers and of course all kinds of shrubs and oriental grasses. Growing anything here is a challenge, because of high altitude and draught. I can't wait for spring!

Gardening is a great way to get kids to eat more vegetables too. Delightful poem. :-)

This writing reminds me of watching my grandparent's garden grow as a child. Lots of wonderful memories!

Sometimes we follow our parents footsteps... and sometimes, not. It sounds like you had a fun childhood.
