Gardening in the Spring

A Garden Poem

Pattie Byrd
The hubby tilled the garden spot
Ready to plant things in a row.
Come, potatoes, onions and cabbage.
Wait a minute, is that snow?

So we'll give it a day or two
To plant you in the ground.
Now, let's see if it's late enough
Here, squash, is your little mound.

Now, we watch and count the days,
Little green things sprouting out.
What do mean there's frost today?
Hubby sits down to pout.

Every year, it's the same old thing
Too anxious to really plant.
Not discouraged, we'll try again.
Around here we don't believe in can't.

Well, we're in teh process of tree trimming and are taking one down so that hubby can plant his veggie garden in the back again. The big barrels out front started to look like Tobacco Road!

Great rhyme on the worries of planting too soon.

Our ground is still pretty muddy from all the snow and rain.

I love it! I already planted lettuce seeds-but they like to be planted in the cold.

    Good attitude toward gardening!
