Garlic and Onion Spaghetti Sauce by Del Monte Review

A Recent Grocery Budget Cut Led Me to This Sauce

I was certainly happy getting different organic spaghetti sauces but I have to admit at their current prices I just wasn't able to do this forever. To save money I went with a few cans of the cheapest spaghetti sauce that I could find and they were all from the company Del Monte. I was familiar with this brand because I had gotten Del Monte Bananas, that oddly enough were organic, and Canned Pineapple from the company as well. This was the first time that I had tried their spaghetti sauces as far as I could remember. One of the spaghetti sauces that I got and tried first was their Garlic and Herb Chunky Spaghetti Sauce.

Seeing how the spaghetti sauce was said to be chunky I had some good expectations for it. Of course I couldn't get completely past the fact that it was not organic, I was going to give it a fair chance when it came to things like thickness and taste though. I wasn't sure just how I would feel about the ingredients or the nutrition facts but I would look at those things after giving the sauce a taste. As the label says the sauce was somewhat chunky. I have tried another non-organic sauce that claimed to be chunky, Hunt's Chunky Vegetable Tomato Sauce, and I can honestly say that I thought that the Garlic and Herb Chunky Spaghetti Sauce by Del Monte was thicker. However I wouldn't call it a super thick sauce either. As far as taste went the spaghetti sauce wasn't horrible but it wasn't wonderful either. I think with some added seasoning it could be better but I would say that it was okay to pretty good depending on what you are use to. Now that I knew that I thought the taste was all right I decided to take a close look at the can to see what the nutrition facts would reveal and what the ingredients were that made up this simple spaghetti sauce.

The ingredients of the Garlic and Herb Chunky Spaghetti Sauce by Del Monte were tomato puree, peeled diced tomatoes, corn syrup, garlic puree, salt, soybean oil, modified food starch, dehydrated onions, tomato concentrate, spices, carrot fiber, citric acid and calcium chloride. I can't say that I was horribly disappointed and kind of relieved that they were not worse. As for the nutrition facts I thought that they were okay as well. A half of cup of the spaghetti sauce only contained sixty calories with ten calories from fat. The nutrition facts continued in saying that serving size of half of a cup contained four hundred and ninety milligrams of sodium, eleven grams of carbohydrates, nine grams of sugars and two grams of protein as well as listed vitamin C, calcium and iron with four percent and vitamin A with ten percent. I suppose all in all I can't complain about the nutrition facts of the Garlic and Herb Chunky Spaghetti Sauce.

I have a feeling that I will be getting the Garlic and Herb Chunky Spaghetti Sauce again. In fact at such a great price of only ninety-two cents I will be getting this spaghetti sauce for a long time. At this point until I am able to spend three times that much on spaghetti sauce I will be getting this canned spaghetti sauce. As long as you don't mind that this sauce is not organic and don't mind that you may have to spice it up a little bit I would recommend that you try it solely based on its price. At under a dollar you can really afford to get a lot of it and really afford to save on your grocery shopping.

I usually buy the Hunt's spagetti sauce but, recently I bought two of your del monte garlic and herb sauce and wasn't impressed. It strangely had diced carrots in it and was very bland. I looked at the ingredients and found that it contained dehydrated carrots which doesn't seem to really have a place in this mix. I feel that this product wasn't satisfactory. I'm very disappointed. Is it possible to sample a product before we purchase it?
