If you want to have a GPS device that will allow you to not only enjoy a day of driving, but also a day of boating, then you may think that you have to purchase two completely different products. While this may have been the case several years ago, currently there are numerous GPS devices that will allow you to use them within your car as well as on sea. The Garmin GPSMAP GPS Navigation System, Model: 276C is one of the most advanced land and sea GPS receivers on the market. If you enjoy the great outdoors, as well as the cement jungle, then you will want to purchase this Garmin GPSMAP product.

Main Product Features:

When I first saw this GPS device, I was first taken back by its exterior appearance. This does not look like your standard car GPS, because it isn't. With a 3.8-inch color touchscreen, you will be able to easily view your directions and choose where you need to go. However, there is also a side control panel, which will help you streamline your way through the navigation options. The display has also been made to be easily read even when direct sunlight is beaming on it, also the entire product is waterproof.

There are preloaded maps of the United States and Europe interstate and highway systems; however, if you desire to use this for your standard city driving, you will have to purchase the optional automotive kit. I would highly suggest purchasing the automotive kit, which consists of MapSource City Navigator Software, power adapter with speakers, data card and a friction mount. This kit will allow you to receive turn-by-turn directions that are voice-prompted.

If you enjoy boating, or are an avid fisherman, then you will enjoy the marine maps that come within this device. You will be able to chart your course through the Garmin Marine Cartography System. There are also alarms for marine use, which will inform you when you are off-course, anchor dragging as well as celestial and tide tables.

The battery life of this GPS device is an average of 15-hours, which is plenty of time for most boaters. As stated earlier, this is a great device for those who spend their time split between outdoor and in their car.

Product Price:

This Garmin GPSMAP Receiver is quite expensive, so expect to pay an average price of $600. However, if you purchase online you can find this product for as little as $450.
