Garnier Fructis Style Full Control Hairspray: Product Review

This Inexpensive Aerosol Hairspray Smells Terrific, and Doesn't Leave Your Hair Crunchy!

Julia Williams
I am a hair product addict. As such, I am always trying new hair care products in search of one that works better or offers something different. With few exceptions I'm not loyal to any one brand, and will happily buy a new hair product based on its price and/or the fantasy that I might someday have fuller, thicker and more beautiful hair.

My latest hair product purchase was Garnier Fructis Style Full Control Hairspray with fruit micro-waxes. I don't care for "wet" hairspray so this aerosol spray seemed like something I might like. Garnier Fructis Style hairspray promised strong, all-day flexible hold and shine, without stickiness or build-up.

It would be nothing short of a miracle to find a hairspray that doesn't create that icky "crunchy" feeling, but this one comes pretty close. The Garnier Fructis hairspray did add a bit of stiffness to my hair, but not nearly as much as some hairspray does. This ultra-fine spray held my style admirably well without making me feel like I had helmet-head syndrome.

I style my hair either straight or curly depending upon my mood. The Garnier Fructis Style hairspray seemed to hold slightly better with my curly style, but I liked its performance with my straight style, too. I get decent curl out of my hair by working in a bit of mousse and then scrunch drying with a diffuser. The problem is that without hairspray the curls last all of five minutes.

With the Garnier Fructis hairspray my curls lasted about half a day before drooping. So while I didn't get the "all day hold" the company promised, I'm not sure there is a hairspray on the planet that can work wonders with my fine, thin hair. The Garnier hairspray also has fortifying fruit micro-waxes which are purported to nourish your hair, provide lasting hold, and add shine.

The fruity scent of the Garnier Fructis Style hairspray is wonderful, and a thousand times better than most hair products. I am somewhat sensitive to smell and try to get unscented hair care products whenever possible. Yet even unscented hairspray is not totally without some smell, and it can be sickening. The fresh smell of this hairspray is similar to the Garnier Nutrisse hair color I used for years. All other things being equal, I'd pick this hairspray over others for the scent alone.

The bottle is the same lime green color as the entire line of Garnier Fructis Style hair care products. They did do something new and different with the spray button though, which I've never seen on any other hairspray. It's slanted and indented to fit your finger perfectly!

You can find the Garnier Fructis Style Full Control Hairspray at Wal-Mart, Target and Kmart. At under $4, it's a great hair product that offers fairly decent hold and a terrific smell. Now that I've used this hairspray, I really might have to rethink my notorious lack of brand loyalty.

I'll have to check this product out, based on your fine review. I thought all sprays left your hair hard and crunchy. Least, that's been my experience. :-)
