Garnier Nutritioniste Cream Cleanser: Definitely Worth a Try

Oil-Free Detoxifying Cream Cleanser Makes the Grade

T. Lynn Amanti
It truly is like seeing nutritionist and a dermatologist everyday!
My latest cleanser experience was with Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Cream Cleanser. I first purchased this product at a grocery store when I saw the display. It included all the benefits and soothing natural ingredients that would make your face "pure". I was sold. I have tried many facial cleansers, some too drying, some too filmy, and some made my face break out. This was an investment of less than $5 into my skincare future. Hopefully this line never goes away!

The Ingredients:

Green leaf extract naturally soothes your skin. The formulation of Grape seed extract and Vitamin E are two antioxidants that purify your skin. Vitamin B5 helps boost hydration in your skin. Green leaf extract naturally soothes and refreshes. This line deeply cleanses your skin without drying it out. Could this skincare line include any more benefits?

Ingredients: Aqua/Water, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, PPG 15 Stearyl Ether, Palmitic Acid, Steareth 21, Methyl Gluceth-20, Polysorbate 60, Parfume (Fragrance), Triethanolamine, Vitis Vinifera/Grape Fruit Extract, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, T-Butyl Alcohol, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Disodium EDTA, Myristyl Acid, Myristyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Propylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Benzyl Salicylate, Limonene, Geraniol, Linalool, FIL

The promise:

The fresh looking green tube that holds the facial cleanser states that it "Gently detoxifies, leaving skin deeply clean & pure".
How is it different? Garnier says "It's our first detoxifying cleanser with a unique combination of "dermatological-nutrients" to purify surface-cells, leaving skin deeply clean and pure". The products were dermatologist tested for safety, allergy tested, and are 100% oil free. Another very important aspect is that it's Non comedogenic-so it won't clog pores

Packaging:

The cleanser comes in a shimmery lime green 6.7 ounce tube. It brings to mind herbs and vitamins, which I'm sure was the intention, and very clean lines. It lists facts on the back with a fairly thorough product description including:

"Is it right for me?

The large tube has a white flip top cap. Sometimes I have trouble trying to push it open with my thumb, but that can be good when showering to prevent water from diluting it.

Texture:

The texture is very creamy, as stated it is a cream cleanser. The application is very thick. You glide it on your skin and there isn't much lather at all. A common complaint is that there is no lather, but it's intended to be a cream similar to facial cleansers in France which have thick texture. It is the thickest cleanser I've ever used. There is no foaming or tingling sensation as there are with other similar cleansers. What you see is what you get. Who said you had to literally scrub your face or "feel it working" to get great benefits? It coats your skin and rinses off gently. Some people might prefer to rinse twice since it's so thick, but I like to leave some film on afterward. It has absolutely no abrasive quality to it, and application is smooth. It also has a clean, really unique fragrance. The smell is not overpowering and rinses off with the cleanser.

Overall:

It's most definitely worth a try. You can find coupons on-line or in the store, and it's usually on sale every other week no matter what store you're shopping in. Most people I've spoken with give rave reviews over this product, and feel similar about the quality. You can not beat a drugstore product at this price with the quality of this cleanser. I'd be curious to see what the results would be in a blind test of this cleanser vs. a more expensive cleanser!

This product also leads me to possibly buying another cleanser such as Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-pure Microbead Scrub from the same line in the future.
