Gary Coleman Death Photos for Sale

Death Photos Seem to Be Doing a Lively Business

TMZ broke the story early Monday morning that there were photos of Gary Coleman in the last moments of his life -- and one purported to be of the "Diff'rent Strokes" actor after he had died -- making the rounds. The photos apparently depict the young actor -- he was 42 -- in the hospital, hooked up to life support machines, except for one, which was supposedly taken after Coleman passed away.

TMZ has learned that there are four photos that are being shopped around. The celebrity gossip website claimed that they had seen one of the photos and Gary Coleman is hooked into the ventilation machine, his eyes closed. "It is not a pleasant sight," TMZ attests.

The celebrity website passed on the pictures, noting that some website would more than likely buy the photos. The seller was asking in the low five figures, TMZ noted.

The Gary Coleman death bed photos are just the latest in what seems to be a lucrative market for death bed, near death, and funeral photos. Rumors of Michael Jackson death photos and autopsy photos were the internet rage a year ago. OK Magazine and Entertainment Tonight published similar photos of Michael Jackson, one reportedly the last picture of Michael Jackson alive, the other supposedly of Michael Jackson just after he died. Both depicted Michael Jackson being loaded into the emergency vehicle before he was transported to the UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. However, it is now believed that Jackson died sometime in the early morning, well before the ambulance was called to the scene.

Famed "Kung Fu" actor David Carradine's death photos were also an internet sensation. Photos of the scene of Carradine's death were published in a Thailand tabloid and on the internet. Rumors of autopsy photos were also rampant at the time.

Autopsy and crime scene photos of Jonbenet Ramsey have remained popular since her death in December 1996.
At present, Gary Coleman has yet to be buried. Although he had originally been scheduled to be interred over the weekend, a challenge to Shannon Price's right to make decisions regarding Coleman's remains was issued and retracted by Coleman's parents.

The 42-year-old "Diff'rent Strokes" actor fell in his Utah home on May 26. He died two days later from a brain hemorrhage believed to have been caused by the fall.

The latest rumors indicate that Shannon Price, Gary Coleman's wife, may have had knowledge of the death bed photos being taken.

This is disgraceful. Who would want to see autopsy photos of anyone let alone little Jon Benet Ramsey. These ghouls should be ashamed of themselves.

How morbid. I'm not sure what's more disappointing, that tabloids purchase these or that there's such hype from the general public to see them. Some people have no respect.

House cleaning recently, I came across a copy of Michael Jackson's wedding license with Ms. Presley. A local radio station had made them available on request. I felt silly for having it. Were I to buy these photos, within one day, I would be deeply diminished in my own eyes. Grotesque.

    death photos ?
    This is so disrespectful...why, for $ ?
Guess celebrities will now have to include something in their wills regarding this.
Aren't there enough nice things to take photos about ?

I actually find it nice that TMZ at least had the ethics not to post these photos. I don't understand why people want to look at these death photos - but they do. I guess it is the same thing that makes people stop and look at grisly accidents.
