This episode takes place at his home. It is the time of the week when Gary needs to take his bath. Gary does not want to take a bath. Spongebob tries and tries to get him to take a bath but he keeps refusing. Spongebob tries to make it fun and plays a game like a treasure hunt to the bathtub but Gary catches on and still refuses to take a bath. Spongebob tries every method he can possibly think of to get Gary into the bathtub. He then goes outside and gets Spongebob really mad.
Spongebob follows Gary outside and thinks that he spots in a tree. When he tries to get Gary out of the tree, he realizes he was just lured into the tree and it was just a record player in the tree. The record player was playing a meow, and Spongebob thought it was Gary. Now he is stuck in a tree. He yells for Gary to let him get down, but Gary moves the ladder so now he cannot get out of the tree. He falls down into a mud puddle and now he is mad. He is really dirty and Gary is yet to take his bath. Gary laughs because now he is not the only who needs to take a bath. The show ends with Spongebob in the bathtub and Gary yelling at him to wash himself.
I like this episode because it is so humorous. It promotes good hygiene for kids and it is a fun way to teach them about bathing. All of Spongebob's episodes teach a different lesson or different values to kids. This is one Spongebob episode you can watch over and over again and never get bored with it. This episode is still aired on television and it is available for purchase on several of his DVD collections.
Spongebob Squarepants can be viewed on Nickelodeon or you can purchase the DVDs. I personally like watching the episodes on DVD because then you do not have to sit with the commercials. And you know that children will not sit through commercials. If you are looking to watch a good show with your child, I would recommend "Gary takes a bath" because of its humor and educational value.
