Gas Prices - How Gas Price Trends Affect You and Your Family

Christopher Garner
It appears that fuel prices are once again on the rise, but who in the American or entire world audience is actually surprised by this latest trend? I am writing this article on the Sunday before Memorial Day, a holiday used to observed the sacrifice of our current and fallen American military heroes. A few weeks ago the fuel prices started to rise, this weekend also marks the official beginning of summer for many schools. Most holiday weekends are high travel weekends, with a three day weekend many families will use the extended weekend to travel to see family or just to spend a extra day or two with his or her immediate family. Coupled with many school summer vacations beginning the fuel prices have risen, but as I have already stated who is surprised.?

It seems that when ever there is a long travel weekend, spring break or summer vacation the cost of fuel escalates to a ludicrous point that burdens the all ready stretched family dollar. Some of these fuel conglomerates should be ashamed of themselves for this practice because they know exactly why they are rising the prices. Lets call it what it is, there is no shortage of fuel, there have been no refineries blow up, no new wars, it is called basic human greed. They know that we are going to hit the road and travel so they use this opportunity to make as much money as they possibly can. The world is going to hell in a hand basket and we are riding the dollar magic carpet. The all mighty dollar of greed has a firm grip on petroleum dealers and refiners. These oil company's are in no way loosing money, they never have and they never will, or at least they never will as long as there is a supply of fossil fuels. Last year when gas was over $5.00 a gallon we all heard the pitiful cry of oil producers stating that the cost of production has risen, at the same time each and everyone of those oil company's were recording the highest profit margin in history. Keep in mind that profit is calculated by how much money one has left after all expenses have been paid. Of course that is a basic description, but the main point is that there profits continue to rise year after year.

The basic law of supply and demand sates that if the supply is low and demand is high, then the price will rise, on the other side of the coin if supply is high and demand is low then the price is suppose to decrease. Now all of the above is true with every product other than fuel. When oil company producers told the world that prices were rising because of our quick consumption rate, we were told to slow down, car pool and travel less. The entire world did just as they requested but yet the prices continued to rise. This is a direct contradiction to the law of supply and demand, when the oil company's were questioned as to why the price continued to rise, the response was simple. Actually there were several responses, a oil freighter sprung a leak, there was fighting in some part of the world that has been fighting since the beginning of time, I think you get the picture. The oil company's are full of excuses but not one has even come close to the real problem. The problem in question is that they are all greedy and will not stop until they have secured as much money as the world can or is willing to pay.

It has become so bad that many inventors have started to research new alternative fuel resources for the world so that we can all claim our "oil independence". New research in biofuel has hit the mainstream public as a cure all for our problems. However, biofuel is nothing new George Washington Carve actually invented and used biofuel at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. There has also been rumors that some one invented a machine that will convert water to fuel by extracting he highly combustible hydrogen out of the liquid form of water. The biofuel that Dr. Carver pioneered was never taken seriously because at the time fuel was considered cheap and no a problem until now. Lately the research has been used and tested all over the world with some South American Country's claiming there independence from fossil fuels by producing all of their fuel from agricultural products. Now as for the water idea, many rumors are circulating as to whether it is true or not, some state that the oil company's bought the original idea out or that the original inventor died before completion of his device. I have a few ideas of my own as to what happened to that device but that is for another article and another day. However, if you think about it the idea is actually quite simple. Hydrogen is obviously highly combustible and with the technological advancements the world has today why is it not possible to extract the hydrogen from water and use it as fuel. Why is it not possible to separate the hydrogen and oxygen and use them both for fuel? In my opinion it is highly possible if not all ready practical, but if this was proven to be possible do you actually think that the oil company's will let that invention hit the market. I guarantee you that they would stop at nothing to not only stop this from becoming mainstream but they would also stop at nothing to ensure that all evidence and knowledge never seen the light of day.

If these type of inventions were mainstreamed then that would mean that the oil company's would be suffering economic hardships just like the rest of the world. God forbid that these executives have to give up their 40,000 sq ft mansions and 3,000 acre estates or have to drive a used vehicle. But before it is all said and done those who are prospering off of others despair will have heir day in court, it may not be the traditional court setting but before it is all said and done they will all be judged for their sins. Until that day comes to pass or at least the fossil fuel reserves are exhausted we as the general public are left holding the brunt of the high fuel cost.

When fuel rises so does the price of everything else, grocery's, building materials, manufacturing expenses and even educational cost will rise just to name a few. Fuel is used to either transport or produce many of the products that the average human being uses or must have to live their lives from day to day. So as you can see when fuel rises the very cost of our human resistance will rise as well. Unfortunately there is nothing that we can do until the day that we all become jurors and watch the oil executives serve their day in court. All we can do is live modestly, there is a upside of the rise in fuel. Family's have become less active on vacations and are spending time with each other at home, maybe the fuel executives will get on TV and claim that the only reason hey were rising fuel prices was because they were concerned about the state of humanity so as a result they raised the prices so we all become closer!!! Hey they have used every other excuse in the book.
