Unfortunately, I own quite the gas guzzler. The only reason I have it is because I couldn't afford to shop around much when I needed transportation. With this latest increase I was thinking about maybe selling it but then realized that I wouldn't even be able to give it away.
I am going to have to take stock of how I am going to be able to go back and forth to work. I'm just not sure what my options are. We have no public transportation available that I can take. So that is out. Also, even though there are about 300 of us where I work, there is only one that I know of that lives in my area. However, our schedules don't match. Walking? Forget that idea, it is 18 miles round-trip.
What I really need to do is try to set up a legitimate home business that makes a profit, so I don't have to get out. Of course, everyone is looking for this but it isn't that easy to find.
Not only am I worried about myself here, but for the entire economy. With gas prices increasing at a dramatic rate, everything else is going to follow. As far as traveling for pleasure, my plans have been cancelled. I run my errands on my way to and from work. If that doesn't fit into my schedule then I just don't do it.
It's getting harder to survive for everyone. I would like to hear what others are doing to conserve their gas use. Give us all tips to survive in these times of ever-increasing energy prices when you have a very low income. Maybe your advice will save not only you and me, but the whole world.
