Oil prices are climbing everyday and will definitely continue increasing. It is a fact and can no longer be ignored. These gas saving tips are thought to be things that anyone can apply for without a lot of effort or cost.
1. Avoid idling. Idling your vehicle will definitely uses more fuel than stop your engine and restarting again. If you're waiting for other family members or friends, switch off your engine. Restarting it when everyone is ready to go. The engine is more fuel efficient this way.
2. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Keep it a habit so each tire has the right pressure. Unequal pressure or under inflated tires can cause more resistance during travel. It desist from accelerating too fast and burning more fuel.
3. You may consider driving a smaller car. A bigger car required more fuel to get your car in motion. The heavier the vehicle, the bigger the dragging force apply on it. Also, don't store unnecessary item in your car. Time to do some "housekeeping" to help your car "shake off" the extra wieght.
4. Plan your journey in advance. Choose the shortest route, less uphill and downhill route, less curving route and less traffic light route whenever possible. Avoid peak hour driving and traffic jam. You car will run on better mileage and you will be better off.
5. Regular oil changes, cleaning your air and fuel filters whenever you have your oil changed should help you achieve the best fuel economy. A dirty air filter can increase your fuel cost as much as 13 percent.
6. Remove items that cause wind resistance, such as luggage racks located on top of the car. Also, keeping your car clean or proper waxed allows the vehicle to glide through the air with less wind resistance.
7. Don't fill up until really necessary. Less fuel means less weight. This can reduce your car's resistance and more mileage to you. But make sure you have enough gas to reach the next station.
8. Checkout the fuel rate before heading to the station. Avoid driving around, do your pricing research on the internet. Some station may let you apply for their loyalty card or VIP card for extra discount too. Normally the cheapest station will have long queing and taxi driver will always discovered it first. It is best that if you got a taxi driver friend to give you first hand info.
9. Don't let air conditioning always on maximum. This can reduce car mileage significantly . You can try using the air condition on maximum to cool off the car then switching it to normal.
10. Normally colleagues and scholars will have the same destination. There is no need to drive extra vehicle if all can fit in one car to the same place. It is a good idea have a car pool system to bring your cars alternately or on rotation. The same apply for your children that you bring to school, switch driving responsibilities with your friends or neighbours.
They are quick, easy to follow and you can do it by yourself. These are some of the thing you can implement to save gas and money. Start practicing it and monitor your mileage improvement.

Post a CommentGood advice! I carpooled for a while, but one of my passengers never offered any petrol money, so I stopped doing it after about a fortnight.
