The sounds of silence this morning echoed in my ears. The birds were chirping and somewhere off in the distance a rooster was crowing to his hens. The distant rumble of trucks moving commerce on the near highway added to this mornings symphony.
My prayer journal was resting in my lap as my fingers traced each name along with a special prayer. The "boyz" aka Bailey and Meko, normally are not ready to start their day as early as I do, but they usually follow me to the screen room. Bailey seemed agitated a bit this morning because, of all things, the neighborhood stray actually hoofed it across our back lot. When Bailey is on alert, Meko has to add his two barks worth too.
The next interruption was a neighbor who, on her daily walk passed by the front of our house. What was she thinking? Both the boyz "greeted" her with a good morning bark. She raised her cane and kept walking. I'm not sure if it was a "hello boyz", or be quiet you little mutts.
About fifteen minutes later, the boyz flew through the dog door leading to our back yard to do whatever dogs do outside in the yard. When they came back into the screen room, they sat at my feet staring at me. I chose to ignore them at first.
First Bailey, and then Meko let me know, "we did what we are supposed to do outside, now you need to give us a treat". Oh my goodness.
I laid my prayer journal beside the Bible, walked into the house and pulled the door closed behind me. Opened the pantry to retrieve a treat for each of them.
From the other room I heard my husbands precious little voice, "what are you doing honey?"
Now for those of you who don't speak "husband", let me translate that for you. Since you are in the kitchen, I am ready for my second cup of coffee.
I walked into the living room to get his cup. The boyz were sitting with those innocent little looks on their faces, lined up together.
"Okay you guys, grab your toys, I'm taking the three of you to the pound today!"

LOL - our little stray acts this way when he wants to play!!! cheers :)
Love those pictures.
I had quite the morning too taking a newly acquired stray to the vet to get spayed. She was not happy! I'm not looking forward to picking her up later. I hope she doesn't hate me now and run away! She probably wants to send me to the pound. :)
