Gay Couple Beaten Leaving Restaurant

Attack Took Place Just a Few Feet Beyond the Doors

Andrew Frost and Jean Rolland left a restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona holding hands. Little did they know they would be attacked for their show of affection.

"I had blood pouring out of me and I actually blacked out at one point," Frost is reported as telling the Arizona Republic.

Frost, aged 19 needed numerous stitches which closed wounds on his head and face, Rolland only suffered bumps and bruises.

Frost said he and Rolland had exited the restaurant holding hands when they heard someone yell out 'fag'. He replied to the slur and was then punched in the face by a man. He also report at least five others rushed from the restaurant and joined in the attack.

The couple has filed a police report, but no one at the restaurant is talking (read--no one 'saw' anything), and the couple says they haven't seen the attackers before.

Arizone includes sexuality under it's hate crime law, and if the attackers are caught, say police, they could face hate crime charges.

I agree Katie. It's horrible. It makes me uncomfortable to walk about holding hands with my partner when I read things like this.

    Despicable!

It boggles my mind that in 2006, people are still having trouble with accepting same sex relationships. From the reactions an openly gay couple receives, you'd think it was 1935 if you didn't know better. Great news piece.
